About me

Whether you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed  or losing your sense of self, I can help you to overcome these feelings, exploring what has brought you to therapy and rediscovering the purpose and clarity you may be looking for. You might be dealing with a loss, having relationship difficulties or managing your own or someone else's health issues. Reaching out for support can be daunting and I will support you to take this first step and navigate your way through these challenging times.

I will welcome you into a safe and calm space in my garden room where you can speak freely and we can explore your difficult or painful experiences together.

I work both in person and online from my private practice between Lewes and Uckfield. With broad experience and a varied client base, I additionally have a special interest is supporting clients facing long term ill health issues, such as cancer or MS and extensive experience of working with grief and loss.

I can also support you with issues including:

Anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, relationship issues, self-esteem, trauma, abuse, menopause related issues, work-related issues, stress, eating disorders, addiction and life transitions.

At the heart of how I work is a humanistic foundation which means I believe through exploring your experiences with warmth and compassion, you will find the ability to make the positive changes you need. I am trained in a range of therapeutic approaches and tools which I will use to integrate as necessary to best support your unique needs.

How can counselling help?

Counselling offers the space to slow down, reconnect with yourself and  reflect on helpful or unhelpful patterns of behaviour.  Benefits include greater self-awareness, improved self-esteem, greater self-acceptance and a sense of empowerment. By gaining a deeper understanding of thoughts, feelings and emotions, you can improve relationships, communicate more effectively and build more meaningful connections. It can also help to work through or overcome challenges and gain greater control over which path to follow, making the positive changes you may be looking for.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Foundation Degree in Person Centred Counselling from the University of Brighton and as a qualified counsellor am currently undertaking a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Chichester.

I am a registered member of the BACP, fully insured and enhanced DBS checked.

I am qualified in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which can be useful in helping you to identify and engage with your own values and build a more compassionate relationship with difficult and challenging emotions.

Additional training I have attended includes Transactional Analysis (TA101), trauma, suicide, anxiety, complex grief and gambling addiction.

I attend monthly clinical supervision and continue to broaden my experiences with regular continuing professional development.

I have experience of working for the NHS at Sussex Cancer Centre supporting cancer patients and their families and as a counsellor at Sussex MS Centre, working with clients affected by multiple sclerosis. Additional experience includes working as a bereavement counsellor at a local hospice and supporting those bereaved by suicide for a low cost counselling service.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
