About me

At times we can all experience life situations and events that can feel overwhelming. It may create feelings of anger, stress, being unable to cope with everyday situations, feelings of sadness, of being low, frustration or powerlessness. Sometimes it may be hard to find someone to talk to who will understand and appreciate what it is that you may be experiencing. It takes strength and courage to take the first step on the path to seek help in these situations. This is your first step in reaching out.

To introduce myself.

Hello, I'm Michele, a fully qualified Therapeutic Counsellor & Psychotherapist. I am a Registered Member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). This is a professional association for members of the counselling professions in the UK. I work within their Ethical Framework, ensuring that my clients receive the utmost care and safety within our therapeutic relationship. I hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate allowing me to work with both children and adults.

As a Person Centred Counsellor, I believe we all have an inborn ability and desire to grow towards fulfilling our true potential and that only we are the experts on our own lives.

The way I work reflects my own personal values, appreciating the importance of building trusting, genuine relationships through respectful understanding, enabling us to become more self aware, leading to greater confidence and empowerment. I aim to provide you with a safe space where you will feel received with care, compassion and understanding, and through which you can begin to unravel the daunting challenges you are facing. I am committed to supporting you to gain insight, understanding and expression of your situation, so that you can move forward in your life with greater fulfilment and clarity. The focus is on you the person inside, not just the issue or circumstance. I feel it is truly a privilege to be alongside courageous people who embark on this healing path.

Each counselling relationship is unique and I respect that individuals have their own way of expressing their thoughts, feelings and view points. I value and respect all of my clients welcoming all.

Working with young people I trained and became a Mentor at SMASH (Swindon Mentoring and Self Help) supporting young people, aged 13 -19, who are working to make positive changes to their lives.

I worked for 3 years with adults at IPSUM (formally SWADS) a charity in Swindon, as a non profit, volunteer counsellor.

I currently work at Kingsbury Green Academy in Calne as the school counsellor.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
