About me

"For those habituated to high levels of internal stress in childhood, it is the absence of stress that creates unease, evoking boredom, and a sense of meaninglessness" - Gabor Maté

It is not uncommon in life that we find ourselves in situations or relationships that seem to be causing us internal distress and difficult emotions. Some of the times there might be a particular event that has had an impact on our well-being and other times we might just feel disconnected from ourselves and others. Carrying these emotions in isolation, without giving ourselves the chance to acknowledge and process them, can add further to feeling isolated, exhausted, and helpless.

Through the therapeutic alliance, you will have the chance to explore and work through your thoughts and emotions in a safe, understanding, empathic, and confidential space. As I truly believe that therapy does not have a "one-size-fits-all", I will tailor sessions to fit your individual needs. Through building a strong therapeutic alliance, we will work together towards your goals and a deeper understanding of yourself.

As finding the right therapist for you is part of the journey, I offer a free-of-charge 30 minute initial consultation. During the consultation, we will talk about your needs and goals and we will together explore if I am the right therapist for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

As a Trauma-Informed Specialist Psychologist, I draw mainly from psychodynamic and attachment approaches in understanding and treating human distress. I have extensive experience both within Specialist NHS Services and the private sector, working with clients that have a history of childhood adverse experiences.

I hold a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and I am highly specialised in the treatment of Eating Disorders and issues relating to body image. I view eating and body-image difficulties as coping mechanisms to underlying unresolved struggles that I can help you explore and address. I am also specialised in common mental health difficulties including depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and PTSD.

I am currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University, California, U.S. As such, for the moment, I am running a virtual clinic.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
