About me

My name is Maria. I am very passionate about counselling and Psychotherapy.  I have been on a long journey myself having therapy to help, learn about myself and teach myself how to grow. I am a humanistic, integrated therapist. I am person centred. And believe that we all know what we need with the space to explore this. I like to help clients find their power. I became a counsellor because I don’t want anyone suffering in silence or to be/feel alone. I believe that talking is medicine. I believe in the healing power of the therapeutic relationship. I will meet my clients needs for empathy, understanding, support, guidance, unburdening and healing.

Our Life situations/issues/trauma’s can make us feel lost and alone, not being able to lead the life we want. It can weigh so heavy and make everyday simple task hard to do. This can lead to anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, No motivation, loss of confidence and low self - esteem. Every day life can be a struggle. I feel Having someone you can trust in a safe and comfortable environment can really help, to talk through our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Having the space to experience the here and now. Learning the power of now.  Looking into, or exploring the past, can help us move forward and clear the fog and chatter that builds in our heads.
I would very much like to offer you empathy, unconditional positive regard in a safe, confidential space. I have knowledge of different theories, which will allow you to talk or explore anything you would like.
life experiences are hard to deal with sometimes, I believe that this blocks our growth. I would like very much to help unblock some of these with you, and to help towards making you feel empowered again. Or perhaps for the first time.
counselling is a very personal and individual process. The way in which we would work together will be centred around you. I like to be guided by my client.

I have been doing my own therapy with horses and have learnt so much around animals helping in the therapy healing process. Learning about myself and how I work emotionally, mentally and physically is one of the greatest journeys I started.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
