About me
Hi, my name is Marcia.
It takes courage to reach out for help and it takes time to find a therapist who best fits with you so I am happy for you to 'check me out', have a conversation and or arrange a session to find out if I am a good match for what you need.
Life is full of challenges and changes. My commitment is to offer a confidential space without judgment, giving you time to explore what you may be carrying over these past weeks, months or maybe even years, what may be troubling you and weighing you down, and together we will find what helps (and what doesn't!).
We may meet face to face in a peaceful rural office or online if you prefer. Our first meeting is an opportunity for me to gather some information and for you to see how I work and if this is what you are looking for. I am an integrative therapist, interested in working with body, mind and heart as all of you is impacted by your experiences.
Sometimes when words are limited or stuck I may introduce some creative tools to help explore an issue (only if this is something you are happy to try).
People come to me for all sorts of reasons, for example with PTSD, traumas, relationship issues, loss, anxiety, depression, stress, spiritual issues and dissociation disorders and many other issues.

Training, qualifications & experience
I am an experienced counsellor with 15+ years, who has benefited from good counselling training, and ongoing CPD and have been enriched with life experience, to walk alongside you. I worked in the third sector, including at a local self-harm agency for several years; I now work in private practice and for Sporting Chance.
I am a registered Accredited Counsellor member of ACC and a supervisor and trainer, holding professional insurance with Oxygen, and registered with ICO for GDPR.
CPD in 2023 included further working with dissociation and psychosis, working with transgender clients, using Erickson's Life stages in counselling, Attachment and Shame, Internalized Other Interviewing...and professional development continues!

Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The Association of Christian Counsellors and Linked Professions is a professional body representing and setting standards for Christian counselling and care in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
