About me

If you come to me for counselling sessions, I will treat you with respect and find what works for you at this time.  You may find it hard to find the words to describe what you are feeling, or you may be faced with an overwhelming mist of confusion and not fully understand why - together we will work to explore how you truly feel and make your thoughts and feelings seem clearer and less frightening.  I offer a warm, welcoming, honest space with a flexible approach to therapy that works for you.  I understand how daunting it can be to find a therapist, so I offer an initial consultation so we can have an informal chat before we meet. In the past, I have experienced my own struggles with anxious thoughts and overwhelming emotion and I found that therapy helped me cope and find new joy in life. I was able to find acceptance and compassion for how I was feeling and this gives me a real awareness of what you are going through and how I might be able to help.

I have experience working with anxiety, low self-esteem, isolation and family or relationship issues. You may have noticed your behaviour change, meaning that you are finding social situations difficult or that you worry about going out of the house because of the level of anxiety it brings.  Perhaps you have experienced a 'living loss', such as a job or a life you were expecting to have in the future and daily life has become challenging. I can help you explore your emotions, behaviours and issues in your life and how this impacts relationships with family and friends; understanding how you feel and behave can empower you to make changes and find self-compassion.

I have also trained in supporting parents with infant loss, miscarriage and infertility issues providing a safe, confidential space at the most difficult times.

I am fully qualified, BACP registered and am fully insured. I will ensure that you are safe during sessions and that everything we talk about will remain confidential.  I provide a structured, professional therapy service that you can rely on.

I offer face to face sessions or online appointments to suit your needs and offer a 15 minute chat to talk through your requirements beforehand.  I have 2 counselling rooms in Trafford: The Nebula centre, Carrington and The Wellbeing Rooms, Stretford.  The Nebula centre is surrounded by trees and nature creating a tranquil, calm space to access talking therapy.
Stretford is easy to access just off Trafford Park train station, and low-cost therapy is available here on a Wednesday.
I can be flexible in how your therapy is arranged which may be once a week, fortnightly, or a mixture of both online and face to face. My therapy service can be arranged around your life so we discuss what you need as part of the introductory call.  I also offer walking therapy, taking our sessions outside to feel the full benefit of nature and a sense of freedom.

I understand that finding the right counsellor can be difficult, so the first step is to drop me a message and I can answer any questions you may have before we arrange any appointments.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Level 4 Qualification Therapeutic Counselling
  • Level 2 Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences
  • Coaching and Mentoring

I have experience working with anxiety, stress, constant worry, post-natal anxiety, relationship problems and self-esteem issues. I am trained in working with infant loss and neurodiversity in addition to my Therapeutic Counselling in person-centred qualification.

I am trained in coaching and mentoring. I worked as a project manager for 15 years so I have experience with mentoring and coaching staff and also with managing my time and ensuring data is secure.  I will ensure your sessions are held on time and that they remain confidential.

I am also an experienced teaching assistant trained to work with 16-18 year olds who are neurodiverse, typically with autism or ADHD.  You may live with someone neurodiverse or feel that you have noticed some your behaviours align with neurodiverse tendancies and would like to explore this further.

I am trained in safeguarding and data protection legislation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
