About me
Hello, I'm Lisa the founder of Snowdrop Counselling Services.
Thank you for visiting my page. I hope this gives you a clearer sense of me and how I may be able to support you.
Starting counselling can feel daunting especially when it’s hard to put feelings into words. I understand how difficult that first step can feel and I will support you through it at your pace.
You may be here for yourself, or you may be a parent or carer looking for support for a young person (aged 12+). Whatever has brought you here you might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck in your thoughts or not quite like yourself anymore.
You may find yourself overthinking, doubting yourself or feeling like you’re not good enough no matter how hard you try. At times you might feel low, flat or emotionally disconnected, as if you’re just going through the motions rather than really living.
For some people this can be linked to grief or loss whether that is bereavement, the end of a relationship, changes within family life or the loss of safety, identity or the way life you expected to be/ hope to have.
You may also be living with the impact of difficult or traumatic experiences including abuse which can continue to show up in how you feel, think and relate to others. Anxiety, overwhelm and feeling constantly “on edge” are also common experiences.
Complex family relationships can also play a part in this where communication feels strained, boundaries are difficult or you feel caught in repeated emotional patterns that feel hard to break.
If you are neurodivergent you might experience the world as especially intense, exhausting or confusing at times particularly when trying to manage expectations that don’t feel like they fit you.
You don’t need to have the right words or a clear understanding of what is going on to begin counselling. We can make sense of things together at your pace.
How I work
I offer a calm, supportive and collaborative space where adults and young people can feel heard, accepted and understood without judgement.
My approach is integrative meaning I tailor therapy to you as an individual rather than using a one-size-fits-all method. At the heart of my work is a person-centred approach focusing on building a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel safe enough to explore what is happening for you at a pace that feels right.
Clients often describe my approach as down-to-earth, steady and supportive, and say they feel able to be themselves in sessions without judgement.
They also express their experience to be transformative and life-changing where something just ‘clicks,' helping to have a deeper understanding of themselves and an increased ability to cope with life’s challenges.
Who I work with
I work with teenagers (aged 12+) and adults who are experiencing:
- Anxiety and ongoing worry
- Low mood, depression or emotional numbness
- Low self-esteem and self-doubt
- The impact of trauma, PTSD or difficult past experiences including abuse
- Grief and loss (bereavement and other significant life changes)
- Neurodivergence (including autism and ADHD), especially where this relates to overwhelm, identity or feeling misunderstood
- Complex family relationships including difficulties with boundaries, communication or repeated patterns
- Stress and emotional overwhelm
- Relationship difficulties and attachment patterns
Your therapy, your pace
You are at the centre of the work we do together. We will work at a pace that feels manageable for you and sessions can be adapted depending on what you need at the time.
I offer 1-hour sessions, ideally weekly, both online and in-person from my therapy room at The Cleve in Wellington, Somerset
Free Initial Assessment
You may be here for yourself, or you may be a parent or carer looking for support for a teenager (aged 12+) who is struggling emotionally.
Finding the right counsellor is an important step, which is why I offer a free 20–30 minute initial assessment. This gives us a chance to meet, talk through what is bringing you to therapy and see whether working together feels like a good fit.
If you decide to continue this first session also helps us begin to build a picture of your needs, which we can return to as therapy progresses
Getting in touch
If you have any questions or would like to arrange an initial assessment then please feel free to get in touch. I aim to respond as soon as possible and will be happy to talk things through with you.

Personal and Professional Experiences
Over the past 15 years, I've trained as a counsellor while working directly with people who’ve faced challenging life experiences - supporting children in foster care (drawing on what it’s like to be cared for and then leave care), helping children with special needs, and working alongside adults with autism and complex behaviours. In 2023 I left to start Snowdrop Counselling Services bringing everything that I’ve learned into a dedicated practice.
I’ve experienced care from the "other side" and bring that insight into therapy with a grounded, compassionate approach. My journey consists of blending hands-on support work and formal counselling training helping me to be better attuned to a wide range of life situations. I offer a warm, accepting, and client-centred space where you’ll feel genuinely listened to and supported.
While my life now seems stable, I’ve faced my own hardships: being in care, leaving care, financial struggle, homelessness, loss of pets and loved ones; depression and PTSD. And yet, here I am. By sharing a bit of my story, I hope you feel ready to share yours.
If you're feeling stuck, burdened, or uncertain, let’s explore what’s on your mind, uncover your resilience, and find a way forward that feels right for you.

Further information
After you contact me I will reply offering you my availability for a free 20-30 minute Initial Assessment (IA) and we will agree on a date and time for this.
At the IA I will take some personal details and will explore what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to achieve, I will explain what I can offer and an agreed fee. Hopefully, during the IA you will feel ready to start counselling and we will get our diaries out to agree on a date, time and frequency (ideally weekly). Having done shift work all my working life I understand that the sessions may need to be flexible and I will do my best to accommodate you.
There are no time limits as to how many sessions you need, you can have as many or as few as you like as you lead the therapy and can discuss with me when you are ready to end so that we can work towards your ending process.
