About me

Hi there, my name is Lindsay.  I know that if you are here, you might be really struggling, or someone you care about is having a hard time. I know that this can be a very daunting and overwhelming first step, however, I want to assure you that you are in the right place and I intend to offer as much support as I possibly can.

The type of therapy that I practice is called person-centred counselling. In essence, this means that the session will be entirely focused on you. I will not attempt to diagnose or label you. I definitely will not pretend that I know you better than you know yourself. Our sessions will be used in whatever way that you choose and we will begin to process things together at the speed that you feel comfortable to do so.

I aim to create a confidential, safe and non-judgmental space for you to work through the emotions and experiences that you have been having.  I will be there to support you on every step of your healing journey. Regardless of what you are going through, I will be here to listen and provide you with the strength to commit and maintain making your mental health a priority.

All of my sessions are offered online via a video call and last 50 minutes. You can very much decide how many sessions you feel as though you need as well as how often you would like these sessions to take place. I feel very passionate about the fact that booking a counselling session should be as easy as booking cinema tickets. It shouldn't require a difficult phone call or an assessment questionaire.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have worked at RSVP (Rape & Sexual Violence Project) in Birmingham since the beginning of my counselling journey. This has given me invaluable experience of working with clients of different ages, genders and backgrounds within a charitable organisation. In addition to this, I have worked with those experiencing grief and supported those struggling in the work environment via an employee assistance programme.

I graduated from the University of Birmingham with my BSc (Hons) undergraduate degree in Psychology. I then furthered my studies at Keele University whereby I graduated with a MSc (Level 7) degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
