About me

Helping you find your way back to yourself.

I am a qualified Person-Centred counsellor, teacher, supervisor, and Creative Counsellors professional ambassador. I gained my qualifications through the CPCAB, and I am a member of the NCPS.

In my practice, I use my core training as a Person-Centred counsellor along with creative tools and other techniques to help my clients find their feelings again.

My counselling practice offers a safe and empathetic space for you to find your way through life’s challenges and back to your inner strength. Whether you’re grappling with anxiety, relationship issues, depression, or simply seeking personal growth, my practice is here to support you. With expertise and a compassionate approach, I seek to help clients explore their thoughts and emotions, fostering self-awareness and resilience in a tailor made way which suits you, your experiences and your current focus.

If you’re looking to embark on the process of understanding yourself away from the "I should be..." of impersonal external influences, I am here to provide a safe and respectful environment for this journey.

Practicalities:

I want to make counselling a smooth process for you outside of the practice room, which is why I offer email and text reminders for upcoming sessions, regular reviews to ensure you're getting what you need from the work we do together, as well as the opportunity to book block sessions.

Client feedback:

"Leigh really showed me what counselling should be and change my initial perception of it. She helped me to understand my way of thinking and how that can be worked on practically."

"To think, not too long ago I was worried about going to counselling. I look back now and I can safely say it is one of the best things I have done. It was a big step to make but once I started my sessions with Leigh I really did discover so many different resolutions to the problems I was facing, along with being able to come to terms with emotions I struggled to deal with, which I think is a massive problem a lot of people face. I couldn’t be happier with my experience in counselling and Leigh made everything feel so natural."

"I was in a very bad place when I first started having sessions with Leigh, and did not feel like myself. However, over the past months with regular sessions, I have progressed to the point where I feel happier and have begun to feel like myself again. The methods and tools that Leigh incorporated in my sessions, especially the ones involving creativity, really stuck with me and have been amazingly effective. I feel more able to deal with the negatives that come my way without giving up immediately. I always felt safe and understood during my sessions, and never felt judged. I would not hesitate to recommend Leigh to anyone else struggling with depression or anxiety, as I have."

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
