About me

I offer a warm, relaxed, confidential, judgment-free and compassionate space for clients to explore their present challenges and gain deeper understanding of themselves and their goals. I work in client-led and integrative way, which means I collaborate with my clients and incorporate different models of therapy according to their individual needs. While it can be daunting to explore the past, this can help us understand ourselves in the present and learn more adaptive ways of coping for the future. I am also passionate about the power of the brain-body connection and often combine talking therapy with guided breathing, meditation and visualisation techniques and provide worksheets and homework where appropriate and desired.

I have a special interest and knowledge in working with the enduring effects of childhood and adolescent trauma, the psychological impact of physical health conditions (e.g. adjusting to a chronic diagnosis), psychosexual conditions and perinatal psychology (e.g. antenatal anxiety/depression, birth trauma, fertility and gynaecology issues) and the impact of engagement with social media.

Life can be hard, and change can be hard. They can be made even harder by critical voices that hold us back from fulfilling our potential, forming relationships and enjoying the good in our lives. As a counsellor, I endeavour to offer my clients a therapeutic relationship that supports making change.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have over 6 years experience working in mental health and wellbeing settings, including the NHS and charitable organisations, for both short-term and long-term therapy. I am a registered BACP counsellor and trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Systemic models of therapy. I am in the final stages of my Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
