About me

Hello, I’m Kevin. I would like to offer you the opportunity to be fully heard and accepted in a relaxed and unhurried environment in my peaceful private therapy room based in Bridgeton, Glasgow. (see pictures below).

I approach my work with a trauma-informed perspective and have experience of working within a range of areas including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, addiction, understanding emotions, low self-esteem, stress, anger, loss, bereavement, and more.

I work with clients face-to-face, remotely via Zoom or by phone. I also offer walk and talk therapy in Glasgow which I speak more about on my website.

If you are struggling, the most courageous thing you can do is reach out to ask for help. Whether you are experiencing either of the issues mentioned above or below, feeling stuck or even if it is just to talk, you don’t have to face them alone and I can help.

I recognise that you may feel overwhelmed with the process of counselling and might be worried about how to get started. Please feel free to send me a message and I can set up a date and time for us to have an informal chat.

How Counselling Can Help

Counselling can provide a safe and confidential place for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions to help you understand what might be affecting you.

Counselling also offers a chance to speak with someone who is impartial and separate from your friends or family which means you can talk without being judged or worrying that you may be burdening those closest to you.

My role is to support you through your journey at your own pace, not by telling you what to do, but by listening to you in a genuine and open manner.

The approach I am trained in is Integrative Counselling which means I draw upon knowledge from other therapeutic models to help tailor an approach that is specific to your needs. Integrative counselling aims to help you develop self-awareness by understanding the root cause of your concerns.

Through this process, we will develop a strong and trusting relationship where you will have the freedom to be you, to develop healthier ways of living and to make lasting change in your life.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Diploma - Integrative Counselling
  • BACP Certificate of Proficiency
  • PDA - Setting Up A Counselling Practice
  • PDA - Addiction Counselling
  • Higher National Certificate - Counselling
  • Higher National Certificate - Sports Coaching

Experience

I have a background working in sport before going back into education later in life to train as a counsellor. My work in sport involved facilitating mental health groups within the community which combined the joy of playing and taking time afterwards to bring like-minded people together to support each other with personal issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
