About me
I know what it feels like to experience difficult situations. From a young age, I have suffered more than my fair share. What you will never hear me say is that I would change this. Facing these challenges has helped me become me. I’m more than a survivor. I’m strong, independent, positive, compassionate, understanding, empathetic and here!
I had always given myself time to process what life threw at me and been able to learn and grow, but as I got older, my responsibilities grew and time for myself became less of a priority. I still remember meeting my counsellor for the first time, I remember leaving thinking it feels like I’m paying a friend to listen to me not to make judgments, offer direction, or try to fix my problem their way, just listen and give me the space I need to untangle the mess I had gotten myself in to in my head.
This is what I will offer to you. The space to become you, I will help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes, and work through your problems to find your own solutions. Whatever you are struggling with/feeling, I’m here to help.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 10 years experience working with individuals and families with a wide range of difficulties (mental health/carers/school attendance issues, anxiety, domestic abuse, low self-esteem, low mood, extreme worries, stress, anger, emotional abuse), with a person centred approach.
Qualifications, I first studied a foundation degree as a Person Centred Counsellor, I have since added to this, earning a Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Mental Health, and a training certificate in Solution Focused brief therapy.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
