About me

I am a calm, compassionate and gentle counsellor who listens, in order to understand you.

I offer sessions, in-person, in Sevenoaks and West Malling, Kent. I also offer telephone and online counselling. I can provide ad-hoc, single sessions or more regular counselling and am happy to work with what's best for you. I offer a free introductory call to see if I am the right counsellor for you.

I am trained in the person-centred, humanistic approach which has many benefits for clients. These include: Increased self-awareness, improved self-esteem, self-acceptance and a sense of empowerment. I will value and accept you, as you are and will step into your world so that I can see things from your frame of reference. I support clients to tell their stories and explore their day to day experiences, in order to find ways forward to live a more fulfilled and peaceful life.

I am here to offer you the space and time to focus on YOU and tell your story with no interruptions. You will be able to talk about anything and everything, with no judgement. Together, we can find a way to discover more about yourself, where certain behaviours may originate from and provide you with coping mechanisms for the future.

I have experience of working with children and teenagers in a 1:1 mentor/ support role. This involved work on: Self-esteem, attachment, self-harm,  LGBTQ+, depression, anxiety and adverse childhood experiences. I have many years of experience, working with children and young people with an ASD or ADHD diagnosis.

I have experience of working with adults with a range of issues, these include: Depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, gender issues, relationships, post-natal depression, menopause and impact on mental health, bereavement, abuse, family relationships/issues, body-image, trauma.

I am continually learning and participating in continuing professional development as part of my commitment to the BACP Ethical Framework. Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
