About me

I know from my own therapy journey just how challenging it can be to make the first contact with a counsellor and to find one that's a good fit. I offer a free 15 minutes phone consultation to anyone ready to start therapy, so you can get a sense of me.

You may be suffering from anxiety, depression, the effects of trauma, or any other mental health difficulty. I am here to join you on your journey to feeling better. I’ll help you move forward in a way that is right for you.

The therapy relationship we build together is THE most important aspect of our work. I put this first, and so I offer a relaxed place where you can feel safe to be yourself.

I'm an accredited registered therapist with The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This ensures that I'm practicing ethically following their ethical code, which is designed to safeguard and protect you. The accreditation is a highly regarded mark of quality and professionalism. It means I have undertaken extensive training and met a high degree of expertise and skills, been through a rigorous process involving an assessment of my qualifications, experience, and adherence to ethical standards in order to obtain accredited membership of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have also accumulated many years of experience in supervised clinical practice, to provide you with the best help and support.
Have a look at my website where you can find further information about what I can help with and my practice https://www.wellness-thinking.com

If you need to talk to someone about your life, your relationships with the people around you, your experiences (past and present) or about everything in between, then please take that next brave step and give us a call. I'm here to help.

My commitment to you is to support and empower you to overcome challenges and achieve your aims.

I will be there to guide you to achieve your aims by providing a personalised approach in supporting you with your emotional wellbeing and personal development.

My Approach - I am aware that we're all unique and every individual comes with their own experiences in life and complexities so I tailor my approach to your specific needs. I do not expect you to fit to my modality but rather I adapt my approach to suit what can help and support you.

The basis of my counselling practice is Person Centred which means I focus on your individual needs, ensuring that your preferences and values guide my approach in our work together. I aim to create a comfortable non-judgemental environment by showing genuineness, empathic understanding and working with integrity. My training and experience in numerous different approaches enables me to bring together elements of different theories and ways of working such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA) etc and I can work creatively to ensure that my approach is flexible and tailored to your individual needs.

I want you to get the most from your counselling experience with me and our mutually trusting relationship will be key to your successful therapy.

Get in touch
We all need a little support when events or circumstances overwhelm us.  Its no fun feeling down and struggling all the time, not knowing which way to turn. Why struggle on your own? During these challenging times, it just makes sense to reach out for professional support so you can get the right help.

I offer a brief telephone consultation, no longer than 15 minutes which is free of charge, to people who are genuinely ready to start therapy. The person can say what they are looking for from therapy and I can explain how I work and what I can offer. From here we decide if we are comfortable with the idea of working together. If we do decide to proceed together, then we can confirm a suitable time and day that works for us both, for an initial session.   There will be no obligation for you to enter into therapy and you will not be pressured. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable with the therapist you choose to work with.

Before we have our telephone conversation, I ask that you check my website (www.wellness-thinking.com), if you have not done so already, as it provides plenty of information, including my approach, cost and what I can offer. If you still feel you have any questions or require clarification, you can ask during our telephone conversation.

Thought for the day:

There's some truth to the idea that high-functioning anxiety can involve masking your anxiety for the sake of appearing calm and composed.
Here's an analogy: Imagine anxiety as a backpack filled with heavy rocks. People with high-functioning anxiety might be very good at carrying this backpack and appearing to function normally. However, the weight of the rocks is still there, causing strain and impacting their well-being in unseen ways.
High-functioning anxiety deserves understanding and support. It's not about pretending everything is fine, but about developing healthy coping mechanisms and addressing the underlying causes of anxiety. Remember, there's help available, and acknowledging your anxiety is the first step towards finding relief and achieving true well-being.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
