About me
I offer warm, caring, sensitive and strong support, providing you with a safe and confidential space in which you may talk through whatever issues, problems and difficulties you might be experiencing.
Throughout the process I will take care in helping you gain a true perspective on how you would like your life and relationships to be, so that you may have some sense of the direction in which you would like to go.
I am very experienced in dealing with complex and difficult mental health issues. I have worked in Health and Social Care for over 30 years, and I am an experienced BACP registered Counsellor and Supervisor, working in private practice in Ashburton and Plymouth, face-to-face and online.
I have training and experience working with people across many areas including complex trauma, Oncology & Health Psychology, Criminal Justice, Mental health and Learning Disabilities (Autism), special & secondary education, self harm/suicide, drug/alcohol use and addiction, abuse issues and eating disorders.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

I am actively and enthusiastically engaged in my own ongoing development involving supervision, Continuing Professional Development, and a daily practice of meditation and learning. I became interested in personal development and the 'big question about the meaning of life' just before leaving school in the early mid-eighties.
I have worked professionally in Social Care for over 35 years with children and adults in the private, voluntary and public Sectors including work in the fields of Learning Disabilities, Mental Health, Special Education , and Dementia Care, as both therapist and staff Manager/Trainer/Assessor/Supervisor.
At the heart of my special interests is Health and Illness and the MIND/BODY connection and how the workings of both, in all their incredible complexity, influence each other in the creation of physical and mental health or illness. This sits alongside my own interests in Meditation, Bodywork & Spirituality that I have pursued since I was a teenager!
As well as offering 1:1 therapy, I am the Clinical Lead for a CIC managing counselling provision for GP surgeries in Devon. I am a tutor and trainer with Lotus Training for Counselling and Mindfulness, teaching levels 2 to 5. https://lotustrainingco.co.uk. I also continue to serve as the buddhist chaplain in the prison on the moor, where I have served since 2009.
