About me

I have been a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist since 2011. I have an office in my home in Guildford where I see clients. I am a short walk from the station and have parking directly outside for those driving to me. I can see individuals and couples and offer 50 minute sessions.

I am a mother of two so have a good understanding of the ups and downs of parenthood. Prior to retraining as a Therapist, I have worked in offices around the country including in London and Surrey. I am an ex-pat from South Africa so also have a good understanding of living within different cultures.

Training, qualifications & experience

I qualified in 2006 with a BA in Psychology and a Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy in 2011. I continue to train in new subjects in order to work with a variety of clients. I have done training with Carolyn Spring in trauma, dissociation and abuse as well as empowering adult children of narcissistic parents.

I have worked with clients dealing with depression, anxiety and anger issues. I have also worked with adult survivors of child abuse and domestic abuse. I do a lot of work with people who have one or two narcissistic parents who are able to cut free from the control of those relationships. I work with the security services, helping officers through the traumas they face on a daily basis in protecting us. Since the pandemic I have worked with teens struggling to adjust to life after COVID and helping them reintegrate. I worked with bereaved parents as well as young people living with visual impairment as well.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
