About me

Most people come to counselling with a big story - a life full of experiences and challenges that brought them to where they are now. I'd really like to hear your story if you would like to tell it. I am a relational, TA-trained counsellor with extensive experience in working with anxiety, panic attacks, (complex) trauma, self-harm, suicidal thoughts and depression. I enjoy working with the LGBTQI+ community and have specific experience in working with Trans/Non-binary clients. I also have a passion for working with mental health symptoms related to the hormonal cycle, such as Endometriosis, PCOS, PMDD, and (Peri-)Menopause.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been a qualified counsellor since 2016, and have a COSCA diploma (PGdip) in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am also currently training in Counselling Supervision. I have worked as a full time Counselling Lead with in Further and Higher education for the past 3 years, where I both supervise a team of counsellors and carry my own client caseload.

I have extensive experience in working with clients from varied backgrounds, ages and cultures. I have worked both in short term therapy (8 sessions) and longer term/open ended therapy.

My training has been in Transactional Analysis, a compassionate, trauma informed and dynamic modality that can help people understand themselves, others, and their relationships better. I use the Narrative Approach to explore your life story and work Relationally by making therapy a collaborative process. I like using Polyvagal theory to better understand trauma responses, and find ways to reduce anxiety.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
