About me

Do you feel that your life is dominated by your relationship worries and that's all you can think about? Perhaps you are confused and have a nagging and persistent worry that things are 'wrong', you feel distant and disconnected from your partner.

You may feel overwhelmed and uncertain how to resolve conflicts, or perhaps fearful of what the future might hold? The dilemma of whether to stay or leave can feel equally impossible and paralysing.  I offer a confidential, supportive space to help you through these complex difficulties.  You may be feeling:

  • Deeply hurt by the continual conflict
  • Scared of the consequences if you speak honestly
  • alone and invisible to your partner

You may be constantly preoccupied and anxious, unable to live your life fully. Perhaps you feel you have reached a point where you can't go on like this but you just don't know where or how to start to make changes.

How Therapy Can Help

Many of my clients find that coming to therapy can be the first step in acknowledging their relationship is not working.  It can be a relief to share this feeling and to begin to take some positive action, rather than feeling stuck.

Through therapy you can:

  • Gain perspective on your situation so that you can communicate effectively and express your own needs
  • Recognise patterns that keep you feeling stuck - so you can respond differently instead of falling into the same cycles. This can result in a more considered response, leading to greater understanding and connection in your relationship
  • Develop the courage to make changes so you can feel happier and more fulfilled and closer to your partner
  • Feel calmer and have more trust in yourself, more able to enjoy life

Why Work with Me

I am experienced in supporting people going through complex and painful relationship difficulties.  I have seen for myself the difference therapy can make, helping individuals make the right choices for them.  I bring an honest, compassionate and down to earth approach to my work.

My belief, strengthened by my professional experience, is that with the right support, people can activate their own resilience and inner resources to get through life's tough challenges and make lasting changes.

I work from my dedicated therapy space in my garden cabin in Lewes and also offer sessions online.  My garden space offers therapy surrounded by nature, providing a private and safe environment for our work together.

Worried About Starting Therapy?

It can feel really daunting to reach out for support but you really don't have to face this alone. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

Training, qualifications & experience

About Me

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent years listening to people's stories, working with refugees at UNHCR, recording life histories, and seeing firsthand the power of being truly heard.  This led me to train as a therapist, where I've supported people facing addiction, bereavement by suicide and wide range of life challenges through community counselling.

I am fully insured and work within the ethical and professional framework of the BACP.

Qualifications

  • MA in Life History Research, University of Sussex.
  • Foundation Degree in Person-Centred Counselling, University of Brighton.

Alongside my qualifications, I undertake regular supervision and CPD.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
