About me

I have over 10 years counselling experience and trained in advanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Gestalt Therapy . I offer counselling to adults and young people from a safe secure counselling room in the Eastleigh area. I am a Lecturer in Counselling and an experienced and qualified Supervisor. I am dynamic in my way of working and non-judgemental.

If you are looking for help with anxiety, stress, depression, OCD, loss, bereavement, diagnosis, trauma, or other life challenges, counselling can give you the confidential space and support to explore these issues.

CBT is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for common mental health conditions, like depression and anxiety. I will work with you to help you focus on the "here and now" helping with your awareness of how past events may have shaped your thinking and behaviours, enabling you to adapt your thoughts and behaviours and learn tools and strategies to manage them.

You are the expert on you and counselling isn't about being told what you should or shouldn't do, it is a non-judgemental welcoming environment for you to work through decisions, strategies and find ways to live your life in a way that you are happy with.

Alongside my private practice I work for Abby's Heroes a local Cancer Charity. I am also a Lecturer in Counselling teaching level 5 & BSc Hons in Counselling. I am also a clinical supervisor for Eastleigh Youth Counselling Service providing Supervision to counsellors working within Schools and in the community.

I am an accredited registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, I am fully insured and hold an enhanced DBS certificate.

If you have any queries please contact me by phone, email or through my website www.jenniferbuftoncounselling.com I will offer a free 30 minute telephone consultation for you to explore how I can help, giving you information about me and how I work.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
