About me

Just the experience of day-to-day living is tough, and sometimes it feels really painful, confusing or difficult. Patterns and problems repeat in our lives, and feeling stuck or isolated is exhausting.

Therapy changes things.

I offer a calm, non-judgmental and confidential space for you to talk and think about your experience in order to understand your problems and to take decisions. Your own experience of life is the focus of therapy, and the best outcomes occur when a meaningful and strong therapeutic relationship is established.

I work with a diverse range of people from different cultural backgrounds, ages and walks of life. Some of the issues that I have worked with people on are: abuse, anger, anxiety, bereavement, divorce, depression, relationship problems, spirituality, self-esteem issues, trauma and work problems.

Working with me.

If you would like to explore working together then please get in contact to arrange a free initial 15 minute call or meeting to explore whether you might find therapy helpful. If you decide you would like to continue then we would arrange a regular day and time to meet.

I work either in person or via Zoom or phone call. At the moment I have availability on Tuesday evenings.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Lawyers and professionals: The pressures of professional life can be extreme, and I work with lawyers and senior executives from legal and other professional backgrounds in dealing with them.

Having worked at a senior level in City law firms for over 25 years, I understand the challenges that professionals face in the corporate environment, and the difficulties of juggling intense work demands with the pressures of other life demands.

Some of the issues that professionals may face at work include: Imposter Syndrome, Bullying and harassment, Inequality at work, Working life balance, Burnout and overwhelm, Dissatisfaction with work or lost motivation. If you wish to focus specifically upon career change / progression issues then I work using a coaching-based approach.

Parents of ADHD/ASD children, and recently-diagnosed ADHD/ASD adults and young people: The impact of a diagnosis raises fundamental personal and practical issues, and therapy is a space where you can work through the implications. Feelings of loss or confusion are common and through working together you can understand and gain insight into your own experience and how you wish to live.

Men: Expectations of what being a man means are changing and I can help you explore what works for you. In particular, you may wish to work through your feelings around family, work, relationships or children. Through discussion of your thoughts and feelings you can reflect on new ways of viewing yourself and what you want from life.

People questioning religious identity: People brought up in faith communities sometimes wish to leave, whereas others feel pulled towards joining. Both directions of travel raise serious questions around your identity, sense of belonging and how you approach life. The process of therapy can enable you to work your priorities out around what life means to you, whether within or without a faith community.
