Counselling - BA (Hons) Humanistic Counselling MBACP

About me

Life has many ups and downs, and moments may arise that leave us feeling unable to live a life that feels comfortable or purposeful. We may lose motivation and focus and may lack a sense of being at peace with ourselves and the world around us.

Having a professional Counsellor to listen with empathy whilst honouring a person's unique individual experience is hugely beneficial to self-regulation and healing.

I can help you find ways to promote helpful perspectives and solutions. I have extensive experience working as a Counsellor and Mental Health Clinician in both short and long-term arrangements within a charity organisation and the NHS.

My training and experience within Humanistic Psychology and the Mental Health Sector, my knowledge and my everyday life allow for my working approach and personal philosophy, which has sharpened my understanding of the other person. By helping people grow, their problems go. I believe in promoting more wise ways of thinking and being.

I have always had a passion for health and well-being and hold a positive view of mental health, thereby striving to work alongside you at your own pace. I trust that a human being has their answers and ability to self-heal given the right conditions. I offer a safe and confidential space that fosters creativity, personal growth and individual autonomy.

I ensure to conduct myself professionally and consistently analyse my strengths and weaknesses. Clients have found me to help support and improve depression, anxiety, stress, grief, low self-esteem, low mood, effects of trauma, gaining different and renewed perspectives and direction, negative thoughts and working positively through relationship issues.

I adhere to:
-  The BACP Ethical Framework and attend regular BACP Accredited Supervision
-  Continued Personal and Professional Development
-  Self-Care Strategies and ongoing training and research

Please call me or send me an email if you feel that we could work together.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

Over many years of my practice a phrase came to me during psycho- education of anxiety as: ‘carry yourself rather than the anxiety carry you’

I believe this represents well the therapeutic benefits that can take place, and how therapeutic interventions/counseling improve health and well-being.
