About me

Hi, my name is James and would like to be a part of you taking the first step towards a healthier mind and a happier life. I provide professional and confidential counselling services in-person, online or by phone to help you navigate life's challenges.

My Approach

In my years of experience, I've had the privilege of working with diverse individuals facing a range of challenges including anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, family dynamics, addiction and trauma to name but a few. My therapeutic approach is grounded in empathy, respect, and a deep commitment to fostering a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts and emotions. I believe in the inherent strength within each person and work collaboratively to help you tap into your own resilience and resources.

A Little About Me

On a personal note, I am a passionate explorer and have roamed the globe,  meeting diverse individuals, and embracing cultures that have enriched my understanding of human connectedness. I love hiking, meeting new people and have a passion for photography. I’m a passionate teacher and still continue my teaching journey as a primary school teacher. These aspects of my life inform my practice and contribute to the warm and authentic environment I strive to create in our sessions.

Let's Begin

Taking the first step toward counselling is a courageous decision, and I commend you for considering it. If you're ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery and positive change, I invite you to reach out. Together, we can explore the possibilities and create a path toward the life you envision.

Thank you for considering JamesCounselling and I look forward to the opportunity to support you on your path to well-being.

Warm regards

James Aboa

Training, qualifications & experience

Besides my private practice, I am currently working at the council's Occupational Health Department, working with the emergency services, civil servants and those working within education, offering short-term, transformative therapy through 6-session interventions.

I continually invest in my professional development to stay abreast of the latest therapeutic techniques and research, ensuring that you receive the highest quality of care. I have further qualifications in Gestalt therapy, chair work, self-harm and trauma.

Witnessing the incredible impact of counselling on individuals' lives, I found my true calling in helping people navigate their emotional landscapes and reclaim their inner peace.

I look forward to meeting with you.
