About me

Life is difficult, confusing and scary sometimes, we can feel misunderstood and overwhelmed by issues that seem to multiply by the day. Perhaps you have a vision of where you want to go but no way to get there, perhaps even planning what you want for dinner is a struggle. You may be anxious, depressed, lost, grieving, searching for direction or struggling to cope with it all. I understand. Speaking about emotional pain can feel risky. Discovering the honesty and courage to put your experience into words can contribute to developing insight, self-confidence and self-respect.

I am Issaka (or Zak) an integrative therapist based in the UK with over 4 years of experience, I specialise in working with you to identify and explore areas in which you struggle and helping you develop bespoke tools that enable you to excel. I will support your journey with understanding and empathy, I will not judge you or tell you what to do, rather, we will collaborate to build your resilience and move you closer to where you deserve to be.

My therapy style is accepting and compassionate. I believe in treating everyone with the utmost respect and dignity, it is my role to strive to understand what it means to exist in the world of my clients and walk alongside them. My approach combines Humanistic, Jungian analytical modalities and coaching. I will tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs, as no one approach fits everyone, thus, we can work together to find an approach that works for you.

Psychotherapy is a unique form of conversation. It unfolds and deepens over time. Speaking about emotional pain can feel risky. Discovering the honesty and courage to put your experience into words can contribute to developing insight, self-confidence and self-respect. Profound fears and anxieties can gradually assume more human proportions.

Taking the first steps towards change and seeking a more fulfilling and happier life requires courage. If you're ready to take that step, I'm here to support and empower you. Don't hesitate to reach out if you want to increase your self-awareness and understanding. Together, we'll take it one step at a time and begin to make sense of it all. I'm excited to work with you!

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
