About me
About Me
First of all, I would like to say hello and welcome to my page. For most people the thought of counselling can be quite daunting; not knowing what may happen or what to expect, so I want to say well done for being brave and taking steps towards making a change by having a look at my profile.
I am a Level 7 qualified Senior Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in Rochdale, trained in the Person Centred Approach and other methods of counselling. I deliver a professional and ethical service offering support to those in need and have extensive experience of working with individuals to address and overcome a range of issues.
I have over 10 years’ experience working with a wide range of clients including those referred by the NHS, Local Authorities, Private, Public and Voluntary sectors. I am an Accredited registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), fully adhering to their ethical code of practice. I undertake regular supervision and hold Professional Indemnity Insurance.
I am a Clinical Supervisor which enables me to supervise other Counsellors and Therapists.
Why Choose me?
I believe I am kind, compassionate, empathic and have a genuine care for those I work with in therapy. I offer people a safe space to be able to offload their worries and problems knowing they are cared for in the therapy room. I am passionate about people accessing ‘good therapy’ and the sessions being valuable to everyone who crosses my door.
For me counselling is all about the relationship we will build together. By developing trust in a safe and non-judgemental environment ensures you feel valued and accepted. The sessions are all about you. My role is to facilitate awareness and understanding, allowing you to feel more comfortable with any issues that may be present.
I have worked for several organisations as a Counsellor/Psychotherapist and am currently the Manager of a Counselling service for a local charity. This involves managing both student and qualified counsellors who work one to one with service users. Whilst overseeing the delivery of the service I continue to work as a Counsellor, carrying a small caseload of clients with a wide range of individuals, all facing different difficulties. I value my role within the charity as it allows me to provide a much-needed service alongside delivering a good experience of therapy for those who may not find it easily accessible.
I have worked with private clients for over 5 years and have acquired a relaxing, friendly and comfortable room in a new venue that I am now offering one to one sessions from for private clients.
I have adopted a person-centred approach throughout my various job roles over the years and believe the various skills I have developed add to my abilities as a highly effective person-centred therapist.
I now work in a pluralistic way offering sessions based on your needs. I have had training in CBT, Expressive Therapies and Solution Focused Therapy along with other training workshops, short courses and have conducted my own research. This range of extra training enables me to work within your best interest by using an extensive range of different skills.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Client Feedback:
R-
'I have used Holly's services a couple of times now, and I would highly recommend her to anybody. I have struggled with my mental health for many years, but when things start to get on top of me and I feel like things are getting too much, Holly always helps me through it. I find it very difficult to open up to people about my struggles, but with Holly it always felt very easy and I felt comfortable talking to her about anything. Most recently, I have found the past year very difficult throughout COVID, like a lot of people. I found that I was constantly thinking about the past as I had nothing to take my mind off things. I couldn't pinpoint what the issue was or how to resolve it, and I found myself having some troubling thoughts. I contacted Holly and she got me in very quickly, we had a discussion and she knew straight away what the issue was and what she felt I needed to do. We worked through the issue together, and although at times it was extremely challenging for me, I felt like I could turn to her for support whenever I needed. It's been a couple of months now and I haven't looked back. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. She's great, and I will definitely contact her in the future if I ever find myself struggling to cope with things again.'

I came to Holly as I realised I was consistently making choices and living a life lead by others expectations and my own. It was making me sad, I wasn’t living my life.
My first few sessions, I cried. I didn’t understand how all this could be worked through, or how I could change this. I especially had doubts when art and creativity was mentioned....It has been one of the most liberating experiences, both the talking and art therapy with Holly.
I’m still working on myself and my only regret is that I didn’t do this much sooner. Thank you for everything.
Ryan- For the duration of the summer, I attended weekly counseling sessions with Holly and I cannot begin to thank her for enough for what she has helped me through. Her approachable and warm personality made me look forward to attending these with her each week. Holly really made me feel as though I could tell her anything I needed to without judgement and it felt as though she always knew what to say, whilst still catering to what was best for me as an individual, based on what she knew. The techniques and help sheets she would provide me with were really beneficial in reiterating what we’d discussed in the sessions when I was at home and helped me better understand my feelings and emotions.
I highly recommend if you are struggling with anything like anxiety, self esteem problems or relationship issues, to attend sessions with Holly, as she has guided me through things such as these amazingly. Thank you Holly :)
ND-009-19 - Holly has been my counsellor for a number of months and throughout this time we have worked on a variety of different aspects of my mental health and how to manage it, which is the key aspect of this process because there is no secret cure, no drug that will make you feel better over a long period of time, however with Holly I’ve managed to learn more about my mental condition and how to manage it better which to this point has worked wonders for me.
I would recommend Holly as a professional counsellor because she is very warm, open and caring about the patients she works with and this for me has helped me open up to her about the issues that have affected me, and in my opinion that is what was needed for me to feel better about me and my condition. Lastly I would like to add that since being with Holly I’ve become a better me, started to embrace all my qualities for what they are which overall has made me feel great.
Mrs Scrimshaw- 'I cannot recommend Holly enough. I had 7 sessions with her and in that time I went from a broken and lost person to someone with strength, courage and confidence. I feel like I can now take on anything with the techniques she taught me. Shes listens to your worries and responds to you in a none judgemental way and I feel we built a really good therapeutic relationship in our sessions. Her service is 5 star and I especially loved the art therapy in our last session as it was something I could take away and treasure and I will always look at it to keep me strong so I don't resort back to the old me. Thank you Holly I cannot tell you how forever grateful I am to you, my only regret will be not seeing you years ago. Anyone who is seeking out a counsellor Holly ticks all the boxes.'
Mrs Graham- 'I would happily recommend Holly to anyone who feels they need some help, no matter what their issues are. To me she was someone who I could talk to openly without fear or guilt. I can't thank her enough for how she helped me deal with my issues and be able to move on. The difference in me from the first session to my last session was noted by everyone around me. She helped me be me again. She provides a calm and relaxed space to talk about your issues and she leaves the door open if you feel you need to return at any point in the future'
