About me

Everyone at some point in their lives will face a situation that they will need help to deal with or have been dealing with too long by themselves. I believe it is important that people don’t feel alone in hard times. My aim is to help to make sense of why we might suffer from anxiety, depression, panic attacks. Or find ourselves in repeated situations that leave us struggling with  low self-esteem, low self-confidence, unfulfilled and unmotivated. Or perhaps, something has happened that is proving difficult to recover from such as a bereavement or a past trauma. I offer a secure, empathic and respectful environment to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and why you may see things differently from others. I use a psychodynamic approach promoting self-awareness to address negative behavioural patterns.

I have a background in corporate life and is familiar with the pressure work can put on people and how that can affect their personal life. Particularly if work stresses include relationship clashes, family issues, discrimination, and grievances. I also understand how relationships issues and previous trauma can have a profound effect of everyday life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a:-

BA (Hons) in counselling. This focused on covering ways to integrate aspects of relational depth and Time-limited therapies. Also included was an understanding of neuroscience that has better equipped me to  work with trauma, dissociation, and other psychopathologies. Trauma includes child sexual abuse, birth trauma and sexual assault. Other psychopathologies include self-harm and suicide ideation.

Level 5, Foundation Degree in Psychodynamic Counselling.  This had  a focus that the past influences the present and the future.  Working to bring awareness to these unconscious processes can turn the pain of the past into something useful. For example, it can help you become aware of some relational patterns with others and give you a greater understanding of yourself, increasing self-awareness in order to become more autonomous and less conflicted.

Level 3 Counselling Skills including aspects of Person centred, CPT, Psychodynamic & Integrative psychotherapy.

Volunteer role at the Awareness Centre

Continued Personal Development (CPD ) in, Trauma, ADHD / Neurodiversity,  Infant loss, Sex and Intimacy, Safeguarding and working effectively on-line.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
