About me

Our lives are to be experienced, but we rarely get through it without challenges, scars and relapses. Even though it is natural to struggle, you do not need to do this alone. And one thing that can help a person to heal is being heard.

As a Pluralistic Counsellor, I work to the understanding that different things work for different people at different times. I prioritise building a genuine and real relationship with you as a client that is underpinned by care, trust and collaboration.

I am registered by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am also a Research Psychologist, working at the Open University Psychology and Counselling department. I have worked with adults and young people in a trauma focused counselling service, education settings, and a charity for people with eating disorders. Both the research work and my counselling practice has enabled a lot of experience focusing on and working with people struggling with anxiety, depression, substance use, PTSD and phobias.

I especially have experience and research knowledge with the concern of abuse. I can work with both men and women in this capacity and people of all ages (over 15 years old).

As part of my PhD and ongoing research, I have been privileged to work with people working within or whom have transitioned from uniform services (such as the military and police service). I can also offer support to friends and family of emergency service personnel.

Taking the first steps to seeing a counsellor can be daunting. We can speak for ten or fifteen minutes (at no cost) initially so that you can get a sense of what to expect from the counselling session. At the moment, I offer online counselling but I hope to be able to offer in person counselling in the area of Callander soon. Sessions last for 50 minutes.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
