About me

My name is Gregory, I am a therapeutic Counsellor working with national and international clients including GP’s, Health Professionals, Schools, Charities and Individuals.

I am often told that I build rapport and trust quickly which allowed my clients to explore their thoughts and feelings when they are ready. I take a soulful and peaceful approach and sometimes like to use a little humour – we are all human after all!

I believe it is important to have ‘relational depth’ or a ‘connection’ between one another in therapy, and research has shown, the greater connection between therapist and client, supports better outcomes; therefore, I hope we can explore what life is like for you in a trusting, deeper and comfortable space.

Following a set of morals, principles and values (such as displaying and feeling empathy) I allow my clients to feel that they are not being judged but listened to and understood, as well as allowing my clients to talk openly about their thoughts and feelings.

Together we will look at how we can use our time in the most productive and progressive way if that is what you want or allow you to sit, think, and move forward when you are ready. Everyone is different and I respect that, the journey is taken together. One step at a time.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

Some benefits of counselling:

 • Counselling can help you reflect and make sense of difficult life events.

• Talking to someone outside of your family and friends, who is neutral to your immediate situation, can give you a different perspective and help you find a way forward.

• A trained counsellor can help you to understand difficult thoughts, feelings and emotions, sharing your worries helps you feel less alone with the problem.

• By sharing and unravelling your concerns with a counsellor in a non-judgemental, empathetic, and confidential environment, you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself and a clearer sense of what you want and need.

• In the safety of a professional counselling relationship, you can practice communicating more clearly and honestly which will help to improve your personal relationships outside of the counselling room.

amongst many more….

Why only online?

Over the years I have received frequent requests from people who need my services but cannot access face to face contact. In order to reach as many people who need my help as possible, I work remotely via video or telephone calls.

Due to previous guidelines around pandemics, more people are opting for remote counselling sessions which is the service I now provide.

Research has also shown that a stronger connection or relational depth between client and therapist can be found working online or telephone as well as, or more than, working in a face to face environment. It may feel less inhibiting, able to feel freer, sometimes more safe and comfortable with privacy at home, or even less travelling restrictions to a face to face environment.

This relational depth or connection is important to help bring about changes. This is of course, very individual to the client preferred approach.

What happens during a counselling session?

Within our first session, we look how we can work together moving forward and if you feel comfortable sharing your story with me. I may take some basic information and together start to explore what has brought you to counselling. You are in safe hands and we will go at your pace talking about what you would like to.

Normally counselling takes place on a weekly basis to give you time to reflect on what was discussed and felt in the session, but not leave it long before the next session. However, holidays and short breaks can affect this continuity, which we can discuss when such breaks arise, we will work as flexible as possible.

I will not ask you to do anything that is not related safely to our session, we will be talking about subjects that can be emotive so often we will be exploring thoughts, feelings and behaviours that can be difficult to talk about, we will work together in your time, we wont rush but we will trust our process together.

How many sessions will I need?

I offer short and longer term counselling as everyone is different, if you are looking for short term counselling as you have a clear focus on your needs or what your difficulties are, we can start looking at what work can be done over 8 sessions, with regular reviews, so that our work can be tailored to your needs. Your requirements are something that can be discussed at our first session.

There is no magic wand or one size fits all, we will work together in each session to help you move forward and closer to where you want to me. We will review where we are right now throughout our time together, I will be guided by you and with our number of sessions if longer term is requested.

For any further questions please feel free to ask, alternatively, please take a look at my website for further information.

Thank you.
