About me
Welcome, I’m a Higher Accredited psychotherapeutic counsellor, offering talk-therapy (also called psychotherapy) in Ayr, Scotland, as well as remotely.
I'm currently only offering sessions by phone or video call, while I set up my new in-person practice in Ayrshire.
Counselling and psychotherapy are a conversation held in a steady, regular setting, away from everyday expectations and assumptions. Therapy is here for when your authentic experience is too important to ignore. Whatever you struggle with personally, we can meet with the intention to grasp what is going on. Daily life may sometimes feel hurried or fixate you in certain roles, but therapy shows us an alternative: a chance to be sincerely inquisitive about what is really happening.
I am interested in helping people who have long felt difficulty in getting by, or along with others, even when the reasons for this feel confusing or unclear. Whether you have a diagnosis like depression, anxiety, complex PTSD or personality disorder - or whether you are just searching for something that does not seem to have a name, making the choice to be in therapy can be the start of living and feeling differently.
My specialism looks at what happens between people, and the ways things outside of awareness can influences this. This is sometimes called the 'relational' approach. I would especially welcome working with you wherever your experience has not met with recognition, as can happen in contexts like expressing gender, living with disability, being neurodivergent or surviving abuse and loss.
For an initial appointment to talk about what brings you to therapy, please email or leave me a message. It’s enough just to be curious at first. To help you discover how psychotherapeutic counselling may help you, I offer the first exploratory session at the lowest price.
See my website for more on all this.
Training, qualifications & experience
My advanced level training to become a psychotherapeutic counsellor has combined relational and psychodynamic approaches. This essentially means I believe in the capacity of each person to heal and grow, and consider the ways lifelong experiences may shape where we currently find ourselves. No matter what you bring to therapy, I am ready to welcome that. I also spent a long time studying Interpersonal Neurobiology, which is a relational field that helps understand how minds, brains and relationships all interact. The idea is we all have an inherent health which, no matter how much adversity or trauma is experienced, can still re-emerge and lead us toward emotional recovery. Weaving together the strands of who we are sometimes happens most fully in the company of a compassionate other.
I Have Helped People With Things Like:
- Mood and emotional disturbances
- Stress or grief
- Problems related to work, illness or society
- Development and adversity
- Difficulty in relationships with others
- Identity questions
- Doubts about meaning and purpose
- Choices
- Repeating life patterns and habits
- Hope for recovery

Additional information
My fee is £45-£65, to be arranged individually.
I usually suggest booking an initial session to give you chance to discuss what brings you to therapy. There will be opportunity to address any of your questions or concerns here as well. And this is where we could talk about the practical aspects of how therapy might proceed, such as fees and appointment times. Should either of us feel I'm not the right therapist for you, I could then recommend someone.
Therapy takes time, so most people who continue will come once or twice a week for a while.
