About me

Hello and welcome. I am an accredited therapist and counsellor with extensive experience working in both private practice and the NHS. I help adults, couples and families to navigate various challenges, including anxiety, stress, depression, relationship issues, guilt and low self-esteem, abuse, anger management and panic attacks.

I have a particular interest in helping you work through insecurities that impact your self-confidence, enabling you to find a sense of direction and meaning in life.

  • Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
  • Accredited Professional member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
  • I am a lecturer in Counselling and Psychotherapy Studies.

Although my practice is not limited to specialist areas, my particular areas of interest and experience include:

Relationship issues (individuals, couples and families)

You may need help navigating issues around communication with your partner or family members. Perhaps you would like to feel more listened to, heard and understood. Conflicting needs and difficulties in expressing how you feel might result in challenging cycles, anger, feeling hurt and recurring arguments.

You may want more support and stability, feeling more secure in your relationships. I will listen to you attentively, helping you to work through and address difficult dynamics, welcoming greater intimacy, security and trust to your relationships.

Depression

You may be experiencing low mood and a lack of motivation and focus. As a result, you might feel exhausted, lost, flat, numb and stuck. Or perhaps you are feeling that something is not quite right, but you don’t know what it is.

I can help you address difficult emotions so they can feel more manageable. Together, we can try to make sense of what you are going through, so that you can find meaning and move forward.

Self-esteem and self-confidence

Perhaps you are struggling with your confidence levels and low self-worth. It might be that you have difficulty valuing yourself highly. Even though you know your potential, you might feel that you let yourself down, fearing failure.

Or maybe it is difficult to feel comfortable within yourself or in your appearance, and you feel stuck in negative thoughts. Therapy can help you move from a place of self-criticism, getting to the root of your insecurities. I can help you to work through difficult feelings, such as guilt and shame towards a more accepting relationship with yourself.

Shame, guilt and self-blame

You might be experiencing difficult feelings of self-blame and guilt, which may stem from childhood experiences such as bullying and neglect, pressure or a difficult situation. As a result, you might feel stuck, anxious and regretful.

Therapy can help you to work through these emotions, understand yourself better and let go of a critical inner voice, empowering you to move forward.

How can I help you?

Our work together in therapy can help you find ways of moving forward, develop a clearer view of your situation, enable you to see an existing issue from new perspectives and gain insight into yourself and your relationships. This process can allow you to listen to your inner voice, embrace new opportunities and experience life in a way more authentic to your true self.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
