About me

Hello. I'm Fiona, a counsellor based in Aviemore, Scotland but I work online with clients UK wide. I help individuals who feel anxious or hopeless about relationships, to heal and grow towards healthy, conscious connection with themselves and those around them. While you cannot change other people, working on your own emotional health can shift how you relate to others. Many of my clients want to process romantic relationships but often the very same dynamics are present in most other relationships as well.

We might be a good fit to work together if you:

  • Are looking to cultivate healthy relationship dynamics—whether with a partner, friends, family or in professional settings.
  • Get caught in cycles of overthinking and looking for reassurance that your relationship is 'good enough.'
  • Tend to feel overly responsible for other people's emotions and needs but struggle to know what you want and need.
  • Are curious to get to know yourself better and understand why you do what you do.
  • Believe you can grow and have a desire to do so.

I'm an integrative counsellor, which means I draw on various models and approaches to facilitate healing and growth. Some models I use are person-centered theory, psychodynamic counselling, internal family systems, attachment theory and somatic therapy.

I am dedicated to providing clients with a safe, judgment-free space. I offer a guided pathway to help you become more conscious of your internal world. This involves some short handouts and suggested homework for reflection. I allow plenty of flexibility as each person's journey is unique with different goals. Together, we will approach the pain points in your life with curiosity and compassion and identify where past pain may be affecting the present. It is very likely that old wounds are impacting your current emotions, actions, and worldview.

I aim to support people in leading grounded lives. This means having a regulated nervous system so you can move away from "survival mode," where you impulsively react to life, sometimes in painful ways. Grounding enables you to take ownership of your internal world, empowering you to respond in more helpful ways. It facilitates a connection with your authentic self and promotes meaningful connections with others.

I highly value not only engaging in thoughtful conversations with active listening but also delving deeper beyond cognitive understanding. Our inner world holds richness beyond words. I encourage slowing down to listen to the valuable messages that your body, thoughts, and emotions communicate. These messages tell stories about your past and present feelings and direct the path to healing.

If you are interested in working with me or hearing more about how I might be able to help, get in touch to arrange an introductory chat or first appointment.
