About me

An experienced counsellor working mainly online, but also practicing close to Edinburgh City centre. An integrative counsellor, I draw from many disciplines to ensure I can offer counselling of sufficient flexibility to meet your needs. I work with people of all ages. I love working with students, where I have a great deal of success; I have an interest in men's issues and a passion for working with those suffering or surviving abuse (physical; emotional; sexual) and the residues of trauma. I work with couples, for which I have specialist qualification, and others in relationships who have lost their way and need help to move ahead.

We all have it within ourselves to solve our problems, but sometimes need help to find and explore our inner resources. We are all individuals, and what works for one person may not work for another. I am flexible and pragmatic, collaborating with you to meet your needs; to go where you want to go to make your life better.

I understand how all of us are troubled at times and sometimes need help to resolve issues that if left might lead to problems that overwhelm us later. If you need to reach out for help and support, I offer a warm, safe, empathic and non-judgemental space to explore what you wish to talk about. Please call me for a free and confidential chat.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have both a Professional and an Advanced Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and an Advanced Certificate in Couples Counselling.  I also have a qualification in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

I have broad experience across all age groups, in particular with students, with men and with sufferers and survivors of domestic and other forms of abuse.

I am an eclectic counsellor, making use of different approaches (e.g., person centred, transactional analysis, CBT, ACT and DBT) to meet specific client needs.

I have specialised training in online and other remote forms of counselling as well as in face-to-face working.

I have completed counselling supervisor training.

The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
