About me

Hello, my name is Emma and I am an Integrative Psychotherapist with an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy from Regent’s University.

The foundation of my practice draws from Person-Centred Humanistic approaches, placing development of an authentic, non-judgemental, trusting relationship at the centre of my clients work to ensure you feel safe and secure before embarking on this process of exploration and change.

Everyone’s situation and reasons for seeking psychotherapy are unique and therefore there is no ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to strategies, techniques and approaches. I believe in working collaboratively with my clients, so that, together we can determine the most suitable psychological approach to empower you to face your current challenges. Drawing from Relational Psychodynamic (looking at past experiences/ attachment/unconscious defences, self-psychology), Transactional Analysis, Trauma prolonged exposure therapy, CBT, DBT, Phenomenological and Existential orientations, I ensure you feel safe and supported to explore and reflect on your individual situation with an aim to increase self-awareness, encourage deeper understanding of your thoughts, emotions and behaviours, and process any trauma with the ultimate goal of achieving long- term positive change.

Prior employment has enabled me to work with a vast range of clients and presentations, and specialise in women’s mental health, PND, addiction and bereavement as well as having an APT qualification in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy which I practise as part of a wider DBT service that I lead.

I practise according to the UKCP and BACP ethical and professional guidelines and am a registered member MBACP. In addition to my prior and varied experience, my training equips me to work with a range of client issues in a unique way, providing challenging perspectives and find a new way through.

Please don’t hesitate to send me a text, or give me a call for an initial chat.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
