About me

I provide a confidential, safe space, working with adults, children and young people. I support anxiety, low mood, depression, bereavement, Autism, ADHD, family and relationship difficulties, trauma, self harm and mental health conditions. Working together, we will build a therapeutic relationship to understand what you are experiencing and how it affects you.

We will look at your thought processes, explore feelings and further develop self-awareness. We will work in the here and now and for adults, we look back to your childhood to gain an understanding of how your past can influence your present and if needed discover healthy coping strategies.

I understand how difficult it can be to reach out and ask for support and start your counselling journey. I offer a free 20 minute initial meeting over the phone or online and I am happy to answer any questions you may have here and welcome any questions by email with no obligation to book.

Being an Integrative Counsellor means that I draw from a variety of psychological approaches which inform my work with you or your child, such as Person Centred, Transactional Analysis, CBT, Attachment and other Psychodynamic theories.

I have a keen interest, personal and professional experience in working with Autistic children, young people and adults aged 11+ Autism, ADHD and other areas of neurodivergence. As with any counselling, our work is guided by the person I am working with. In the area of neurodivergence, our work together often focuses on subjects such as identifying and accepting needs, strategies to prevent burn out, working on personal boundaries, relationships, self esteem and reframing the past for later diagnosed adults. I also provide support for parents, carers and families of children with SEND.

I am an approved counsellor for the Police Firearms Officers Association, (PFOA) and offer a blue light card discount for all front line emergency service, Armed Forces and NHS personnel.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
