About me

Looking for the right counsellor can be one of the most difficult and intimidating obstacles to overcome before coming to counselling. So first of all, well done for taking that first step!

What is Counselling?

Counselling is unlike anything you may have ever tried before and has a completely unique relationship at the centre of it. The therapeutic relationship between a client and a counsellor is arguably the most important aspect of the counselling process. This will enable you to feel safe, understood and accepted by your counsellor which leaves you free to discuss any personal thoughts or circumstances that you may need to work through.

People come to counselling for many reasons including dealing with the loss of a loved one, experiencing anxiety, stress or depression or even simply to learn more about themselves and in turn learn to love and accept themselves. Counselling can be an incredible tool and experience for anyone who is looking to improve their life or personal outlook in some way, shape or form, but with so many forms of counselling and so many counsellors to choose from, how do you know where to start?

About Me

My core training is in Person Centred Therapy but I like to work with a more integrative model, this means that I can use aspects from many different forms of therapy such as; CBT, Mindfulness relaxation and Gestalt therapy within my sessions. The reason why I prefer this method is that I believe that there is no “one size fits all” when it comes to counselling. I like to meet a client, listen to their wants and needs and then integrate whichever forms of counselling that we both feel will create the best therapeutic journey possible. It is important that you understand that you and your individual needs will always be at the centre of our sessions. Your input will be valued and whether you want to be challenged in a supportive way, or simply want a confidential and non-judgemental space in which to explore your thoughts, I am sure that we would find a bespoke approach that suits you.

I began my counselling career back in 2013 and for the first few years, my work focussed around 12-18 year olds as I was working within high school and sixth form settings. Here I saw clients of all backgrounds, ethnicities, genders and sexualities who were experiencing a huge range of issues, including anxiety, depression, stress, grief and the breakdown of relationships and families. It has always been important to me to continue to work with this age group but my career has taken me in many different directions and I have now gained a wealth of experience working with adults and elderly clients.

Areas of Specialism

Over the past couple of years, my specialisms have expanded to respond to the rise in people struggling with issues around self-acceptance, negative body image/body dysmorphia and the impact of social media on these issues. Another area of my specialisms would be offering support to both male and female clients who are going through fertility complications, miscarriage and also those suffering from ante-natal and/or post-natal depression

Where to Start

I am currently offering both online and face to face counselling and my sessions last around 50 mins. I am available for both short and long term therapy and will try to be as flexible as possible to work around your schedule.

If you require counselling or have any questions about the services I offer then please call, text or email me.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
