About me

I am a caring and empathetic therapist who enjoys working with a wide range of people. I work with clients experiencing all kinds of difficulties in areas such anxiety (including social & health  anxiety), depression, low self esteem, low self confidence and lack of motivation. Sometimes the roots of these difficulties feel obvious to you, such as problems at work or within an important relationship but other times you might not be sure. Clients often  tell me they are feeling sad or low and don't know where to start. Whatever your reason for contacting me, be assured that I work using proven therapy techniques and consult the latest evidence based research to ensure client safety and promote successful outcomes.

I have thousands of hours of experience in supporting young adults (16 years and over) & parents around issues of Autistic Spectrum Disorder & conditions with additional needs such as ADHD, Sensory Processing, Dyspraxia etc. Often the diagnosis process takes a long time and may not lead to the additional support  a young person feels they will get, leaving them lost and confused as they learn to adjust to what their diagnosis means to them.

Learning to accept these issues can also be very hard for the parents of younger children, with the additional worry & parental imput needed, it can seem daunting. Parents often experience a type of grief as they learn to 'mourn' the life they thought parenthood would bring. This can be accompanied by feelings of guilt & shame. It is often helpful to work through this to gain a realistic, even positive acceptance & enjoy life.

I have also found that counselling over the telephone or via video links such as Zoom works incredibly well for clients. Working in this way has allowed me to help those experiencing difficulties in other regions in England, Scotland & Wales.  I have undergone over 80 hours of additional training in this form of counselling to ensure I can offer a safe and effective service to clients. This method seems particularly popular with clients who are experiencing Anxiety, Agoraphobia, work shifts or are lone parents without access to regular childcare. I can offer regular weekly sessions or single session therapy (90 minutes).

I know that sometimes it is hard to take the first step and ask for help but I am waiting for your call or email. Often it is difficult to know where to begin to explain what the problem is but it's my hope that together, we can work with your concerns and make your life more happy and contented.
