About me
Hello, and welcome. When you are facing challenges in life and looking for support to help you overcome them, figuring out what you need and who can help can be a confusing, daunting process. By searching Counselling Directory today, you have taken the first step!
Whatever difficulties you are facing at the moment, having someone to listen and help you understand your problems can make things feel more manageable. As a therapist I provide a confidential, non-judgemental space for you to explore these difficulties, and to work with you in a collaborative way.
Every person is different, which means every treatment will be different too. I provide a range of psychological therapies that will be tailored to meet your needs. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and other Mindfulness-based approaches, Person-Centred Therapy, and approaches based on Interpersonal or Schema Therapies.
I work with people of all ages and backgrounds. Difficulties I work with include (but are not limited to): depression, anxiety, stress (including work, academic, or general life stress), loss and bereavement, panic, OCD, anger, trauma, life changes (e.g. birth, retirement, relationship ending), sexual difficulties, eating disorders, health anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and desire for personal development.
I also offer a specialist children and young people phobia service, particularly those related to physical health such as needle and dental phobia.
I can offer sessions in person or online.
In addition to therapeutic work, I can also provide supervision for practitioners and trainees.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold the following qualifications:
- BSc degree in Applied Psychology
- MSc in Clinical Applications of Psychology
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
I am a Clinical Psychologist accredited and regulated by the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC), which means I have undertaken extensive training in providing evidence-based psychological therapies to people of all ages and backgrounds.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
