About me

Welcome, if your overwhelmed with life right now, I can help you on your journey to find a sense of peace, clarity & calm. Im a compassionate soul, fully qualified, insured, member of the BACP, offering you a safe space to explore & work things through, outdoors in nature, in person at The Therapy Cabin or online.

How I work

Issues predominant in my practise are: anxiety, stress, low mood, work/relationship issues, imposter syndrome, loss, past trauma/s. I'm here to listen, give you space to be heard and to heal. We will explore together at your pace helping you reconnect to your inner sense of self, finding confidence in your future.

You can gain a new perspective as you work through your issues or concerns perhaps breaking free of the values others have placed upon you.

Im a Person-Centred counsellor, I will listen to you without judgement, about how you are feeling now. I will provide a safe space for you to talk, give a sense of holding and containing, whilst helping you to make meaning. I may reflect back what I hear, notice and sense or ask questions to help you explore and find clarity. We will explore your concerns and worries at your pace to find your answers.

You may decide to have just a few sessions or long-term counselling, it’s up to you, you’re in control and we will discuss this.

I truly believe in our innate ability to grow and change through experiencing; acceptance, unconditional positive regard and empathic understanding in a safe therapeutic relationship. I aim to provide this, which enables you to look within, find the answers & choices that are right for you.

Further training I have taken enables me to offer suggestions to help calm anxiety and ground you, explanations of how and why our body and mind can react in certain ways to life’s struggles and injustice. Understanding our mind body response gives power, you understand your responses to lifes happenings.

Outdoor counselling

I offer counselling sessions in a beautiful woodland near open fields and a meadow, where we can stroll as we work together or perhaps sit for part or all of the session.  LE10, Hinckley, Burbage area, not too far from the M69 or A47 if travelling from the direction of Leicester.

Some find that opening up is easier walking side by side or that sitting in a room feels too intense, perhaps eye contact is not comfortable for you. Walking can also help release body stored emotions and tension, moving can aid the flow or process of therapy.

I know how nature calms and nurtures me, the research evidence for our innate connection to nature (Biophilia) and so I bring this to my role as counsellor helping to nurture you. We can choose a route to suit your ability.

In Person

A comfortable cosy cabin/outdoor room, in Earl Shilton. You may choose a blended approach; working online, in person & or outdoors also.

Online

I send you a link to my secure platform, no need for an app. I have a confidential office/therapy room in my home. Please consider you will need a place you cannot be overheard and feel comfortable to talk freely.

Training, qualifications & experience

My counselling experience was gained working for a charity in Leicester offering long term counselling to vulnerable women where I continue to work.

Some of the issues I have worked with: loss, anxiety, low mood, coercive control, co-dependency, living with ADHD, past trauma, emotional, physical and sexual abuse.

Well, I have quite a variety of life experience that bought me to where I am now; from travelling and working in Europe, being a parent, working with minority groups teaching basic skills to a career in horticulture.  ADHD, ASD, anxiety, transgender issues, cancer scares, loss, hysterectomy and menopause are some of what’s happened around me, not all to me! A religious and spiritual connection grounds me, I love yoga and nature and aim for a holistic approach in all I do.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Im passionate about counselling and nature. Carl Rogers (founder of person-centred therapy) matches my values and ethos and why I choose this path.

As does Buddhism and a religious faith…not that I bring that to my work but it is part of me that builds my compassion for others and our world.

Acceptance & Gratitude are qualities I believe essential to help us through Life yet i understand how hard it can be to get to even think about that. I bring hope that by working with me you will find your sense of peace, some calm and clarity to continue life's journey.
