Donna Alexander - Counsellor & Psychotherapist
- ANNOUNCEMENT - THERAPY SESSIONS
Whilst COVID-19 is becoming a serious public matter and one which I respect can be creating/adding more anxiety; we at this time, cannot dismiss that the infection control of any environments where others visit, provide guarantees.
Whilst both my private practice and the environments I personally work within are taking great measures to protect both visitors and employees, I believe at this time it would be ethical for me to consider how I can play a role in reducing risk.
I understand the importance of therapy for my clients, and the need to feel relaxed when already in some place of vulnerability, so during this time of uncertainty in our communities, I feel it is my duty of care to address the ways in which my practice can best meet the needs of clients, both new and current, in advising them of other interventions available with myself ..
I would like offer my existing and new clients the option to consider an environment for counselling/therapeutic intervention which greatly reduces such risk of contact with COVID-19, by engaging in the service I offer of telephone therapy.
Telephone therapy can be offered wherever you are, providing your environment is safe to do so, confidential and you can be free of distraction during the time of our call.
Please note this is an optional pathway, which is also therapeutically effective. I am happy to receive new referrals or address any questions you may have. Please contact me directly on 07766 200 100 via text, so I can arrange a mutual time to speak with you.
But for now .. take care of you.
Each client is unique and their needs of therapy may not be exactly realised when seeking a Counsellor. My approach is to support the whole person and assist my client’s understanding, so their outcomes can shape the therapeutic journey by addressing those things which are unhelpful to them, and so move the client forward to thrive and become their own counsel.
As a Counsellor/Psychotherapist, my 12 years experience is represented across the Public; Government; Private and Charitable sectors, supporting clients with clear-cut and complex presentations from work related stress, anxiety disorders, self-esteem issues, relationships, PTSD and harmful behaviours.
Alongside my independent, safe and comfortable Private Practice based in Manchester, I assess clients for counselling at a Women’s only Rape Crisis centre, where too I am a therapist in this specialised service, I also act as an Affiliate Counsellor for EAP services. I am a listed qualified practitioner of Parks Inner Child Therapy Quick Change Model, an unobtrusive directed approach to lasting change therapy. Primarily formulated to address abuse in childhood. PICT leans itself well to understanding negative behaviours and crippling limiting beliefs - issues usually addressed in therapy.
The work of talking therapy isn’t without challenge, so I respect that starting the process can be uneasy. The journey needs to be thought through, has to be right for you. It would be of value to read many Therapist profiles, and reach out to those that interest you, as this relationship is a very important one. Should you wish to make contact with myself, I always encourage a non-commitment telephone call, just text or email if you'd like me to get in touch.
Underpinning my practice and philosophy lies a client centred approach. The style in which I engage is diverse and liberal, seeking to work at depth with a client's need. My practice provides approaches to meet 'What's needed right now' and 'For the long term'
Seeking a single interaction:
- Single-Session Therapy (as named by Windy Dryden) A swift pathway to gaining help at the point of need. (3 separate interactions including Telephone and Face2Face)
Short term/longer term therapy
- Face to Face/Telephone Therapy sessions are underpinned in a person centred philosophy of humanistic therapy, though take an integrative and individualised theme, to meet the needs of the client. (the therapeutic hour is 60 minutes)
Inner Child Therapy
- Parks Inner Child Therapy is a stand-alone model of therapy providing an unobtrusive approach to lasting change, primarily formulated to address abuse in childhood, though leans itself well to understanding negative behaviours and crippling limiting beliefs born from unhealthy relationships. For those who may not seek the full model, this approach also allows for isolated matters to be addressed, such as Abortion, Miscarriage, Anger, Grief. Session durations are 1.5 - 4hrs (assessment required for full model)
PICT sits inside my therapeutic philosophy in supporting the person to be the best they can be for themselves, focusing on observing, repairing and restructuring ‘out of date’ hurts/information for the outcome of a more informed and assertive you, which it executes using a non-intrusive methodology - PICT frees us from unpleasant past events. With an increased public awareness of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE), being a qualified PICT QC Practitioner, delivering the PICT model has become a significant part of my practice.
With exception of the ‘Quick Change’ model in PICT, generically my practice does not offer a sliding fee scale to sessional therapy, nor do I require my clients to commit to blocks of therapy.
I always encourage a non-commitment telephone call, just text or email if you'd like me to get in touch.
