About me

People come to counselling for all kinds of reasons. It may be due to a crisis situation or a relationship breakdown, equally it could be curiosity about a certain aspect of their life or personality. Whatever the reason I can offer a safe and confidential space in which we can explore the issue together. I understand that it can be scary to share your thoughts and feelings with someone else; my work is supportive and non-judgemental, conducted at the client's choice of pace and depth.

As an integrative counsellor I draw on experience from a variety of counselling modalities and theories, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Person Centred, Transactional Analysis (TA) and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

I offer work with creative tools and materials, and for clients who find it beneficial I am happy to explore spirituality and faith.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Diploma of Higher Education in Counselling and I am a registered member of both the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Association of Christians in Counselling (ACC).

I am currently working with a counselling agency, focusing on disordered eating and body image.

My employment experience is in the charity sector; I have undertaken roles supporting people of all ages and in a variety of communities, in settings such as hospitals, addiction projects, community centres, and churches.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

ACC
Association for Christian Counsellors (ACC)

The Association of Christian Counsellors and Linked Professions is a professional body representing and setting standards for Christian counselling and care in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.

Further information

Making contact with me won't commit you to anything further than an initial free 30 minute meeting.  This will allow you to share a little of your story and for me to explain details of how I work.  At the end of the session, we can decide if working together will be beneficial to you.

We can plan to work together for just a few sessions or commit to a longer timeframe which would include regular reviews to evaluate the work we are doing together.

I offer face to face sessions in Didcot, Oxfordshire and online sessions via Zoom and Google Meet.
