About me

Hi there, my name is Dan and thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. Finding the right therapist for yourself can be an overwhelming and often scary task.

Therefore, I'd like to give you a summary of what you can expect from me:

My core training was the person-centred approach. I feel that this approach is a strong foundation to work from. I am a professionally qualified Counsellor and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I adhere to their Ethical Framework for Counselling Professionals. I will provide a safe base for you to explore your current thoughts, feelings, and personal experiences.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the most important aspect of Counselling. The therapeutic relationship can provide you with a safe base to feel truly heard, accepted and understood in a non-judgemental and confidential environment.

I trained as a Counsellor for five years and it was during that time that I found my passion for the person-centred approach, which primarily puts the client at the centre of the relationship. Although the experience has taught me that ‘one size does not fit all’ I now integrate skills and techniques from other approaches as appropriate to each client.

It's important that you are listened to and that you feel understood in how unique experiences through life have led you to where you are today. It's also very important that you feel confident that we can work as a team together to help you overcome your current difficulties and aid you on your journey to recovery and reaching your goals.

I am an enthusiastic, diligent, and motivated counsellor dedicated to helping each client to the best of my abilities. While the work can be complicated, I have the empathy, active listening skills and adaptability required to understand and convey even complex needs. I tailor my communication to meet the needs of each client.

Sometimes in life, we need someone to share our thoughts, feelings and memories of difficult or confusing experiences with. You don't have to struggle to make sense of things on your own.

I am a big advocate for men's mental health and believe that we all deserve the chance to be able to talk to someone and not fear that it’s a sign of weakness.

I offer both short-term and long-term personal therapy, with some evening sessions available. I will always try to be as flexible as possible with sessions to allow you to access support that fits you.

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second-best time is now. No matter your age, it’s never too late to make a positive change in your life!

What Next?

In a free initial consultation, we will discuss what brings you to counselling and what you would like to achieve from our sessions. I will explain more of the counselling process to you before you make any decisions. There’s no pressure and no obligation to go ahead. i offer phone, online and face to face options, face to face sessions take place in my own home where i can offer complete privacy, i live 5 miles from the A1 in the lincolnshire countryside and also offer the chance for walking therapy with access to some countryside walks right on my doorstep.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
