About me

Hi, welcome to my page.

I appreciate how confusing it can be to pick someone to help when you or someone in your life is experiencing difficult issues. There are so many types of therapy and therapists and it can be hard to pick one over another. I believe that you need to feel that you can trust the counsellor and that you feel they understand what you are going through in order that you can get closure or change. In that way the process does not seem so scary or impossible. I support people to manage the issues that are troubling them in order to make life feel easier and more peaceful by offering a safe , warm, confidential and non judgemental space to explore these things. This can be done face to face in a therapy room, either in Nether Broughton or Melton Mowbray or by phone or online. I also offer Walk and Talk therapy, where we meet outside and talk in nature which is less formal and can be less stressful and constricting.

I have  a passion for helping people as I believe that there are no problems that are too small or large to talk about, because if it worries you or causes you distress in your life then it may need looking at.  I work at your pace and in collaboration with you. Fundamentally I work from a Person Centred foundation but may suggest other techniques such as; Cognitive Behavioural, Creative, Inner child, relaxation, if it seems these might be helpful to you. There is not a one size fits all.

I can work with children and young people in a more creative way if that's what they feel comfortable with. I want them to feel completely confident talking and working through their issues and to feel listened to.

If you would like to discuss this further to see if it would work for you please contact me for a free (no obligation) 30 minute telephone consultation, please include your phone number so that I can contact you to make sure you receive my email.

many thanks.

I look forward to talking with you.

Claire

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
