About me

Please contact via email.

Hello, I'm Christopher, a qualified and experienced Psychotherapist and Counsellor working with, Adults, Children & Young People and Couples in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire and Lincoln. As a Humanistic Psychotherapist and Counsellor, I believe everyone has the capacity to achieve their fullest potential and no problem is too big or too small to ask for help.

Having trained as an integrative and relational psychotherapist, I am able to make use of a range of models and approaches to therapy. Furthermore, I place a great deal of emphasis on the need for a therapeutic relationship between you (the client) and me. After all, if the relationship is open and honest and the client is treated with respect, acceptance and understanding, change can occur.

I became a psychotherapist after a long career in health and social care settings. Where I strived to make the right support available, to those who needed it, at the right time. As a psychotherapist, I still believe that being able to get the help you want when you need it most is important. Moreover, I believe therapy should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, ability or concerns.

I work with clients of all ages, from 4 years old, I will also work with people living with disabilities, long-term mental health conditions, Autism Spectrum Disorder and addiction.

As well as individual therapy, I specialise in working with couples where one or both partners have or might have a neurodiverse condition such as Autism or ADHD.

And I am able to offer discounted rates in certain circumstances, which I will be happy to discuss with you during our initial phone consultation.

My work as a therapist is influenced by Existential philosophy, which explores what it is like to be Human and to come to terms with life in all its confusing intricacy. I understand that life can be tough, and many of us need a little help to make sense of the world and our place in it.

Moreover, the existential tradition avoids labelling difficulties as "illness" and focuses on understanding them as consequences of the challenges of living. After all, we are all unique and only you know what it is like to be you.

Therefore, I will work with you in a way that suits your needs, we will focus on the things that are important to you. Together, we will explore your concerns and how, through deeper understanding, you can make choices about the way you live your life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
