About me
Each client, brings with them a personal history, set of experiences and issues unique to them. My view is that one size does not fit all in therapeutic work and therefore a tailored approach to your needs is required in order for therapy to be most beneficial. I employ different theoretical approaches to my work, such as Humanistic and Existential, to best meet the needs of each person I meet.
I have experience of being a client in therapy and know how challenging this can sometimes be. Having walked that path myself and seen the work from 'both sides', I believe that this deepens my ability to truly relate to my clients.
If you want to explore working with me then please make contact. There is no obligation, I do not sell sessions in blocks, and offer an initial free meeting if you want to learn more about me, the way I work or Psychotherapy more generally.
My academic background includes studying for a Level 7 Diploma in Psychotherapy over a four year programme in Jersey and France before going on to take a Level 7 Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People.
In addition I teach on a range of degrees and professional Counselling training courses that have Psychology, Psychotherapy and Counselling at their hearts. For University College Jersey I have lectured on the Psychology with Criminology degree which we launched in 2017 and Child Development for the Childhood Studies degree. I also lectured on the Psychology of Physical Activity for the Sport & Management degree. Professional training includes delivering CPCAB Counselling Courses, Levels 2, 3 and Level 4 Diploma, sharing my love of this empowering vocation with students keen to find their own path as Counsellors.
If you feel ready, please make contact.
Training, qualifications & experience
As well as a degree in Psychology I also hold a Post Graduate Diploma (Masters Level) in Relational Integrative Psychotherapy from the Scarborough Counselling and Psychotherapy Training Institute and a Post Qualifying Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People, Level 7.
I have also undertaken training with Zoe Lodrick, New Pathways and Christiane Sanderson to enable me to work with survivors of rape and sexual abuse. I was a volunteer therapist with Jersey Action against Rape (JAAR) for five years from its launch in 2015.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
