About me

Hi, I am Christine. I am a qualified experienced and effective person-centred counsellor working with children (0-12), Young people (13-17), young adults (18-24), Adults (25-64 and older adults (65+).

I am based in Stamford and work from my Therapy cabin which is beautifully set in a secluded part of my garden. Free from interruption it provides a warm, welcoming atmosphere. A calm and confidential space where we can work together comfortably.

I work to the highest ethical and legal standards adhering to the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) practitioner requirements. I am fully insured and DBS certified. All DATA is handled safely, securely and confidentially and in compliance with UK gen data professional regulations.

I strongly believe that our mental health is paramount in all that we do. Approaching someone for counselling is a hugely daunting prospect and you should be proud you have taken this first step.

Being person centred means that I take a non-directive approach and focus on supporting you to connect with your true feelings and emotions therefore make sense of what you are thinking and feeling. Whether you feel low, sad, lonely, depressed, have anxiety, are lost, stuck or overwhelmed. If you're troubled with loss, grief, or trauma, I can help to manage those feelings and support you to turn things around.

Prior to setting up my counselling business, I worked in child care, the last 15 years as a nursery manager in an outstanding Montessori setting. giving me a deep understanding of the development and needs of children and young people.

Becoming a parent is truly a life changing experience from the moment you fall pregnant. Life changes and the responsibilities are huge. I am here to support you with many issues, from the emotional ups and downs you may be experiencing during pregnancy, when you first become a parent, gender guilt, feeling shame because you are not enjoying motherhood, believing you are not a good enough parent, the very fact that no one ever prepares you for the many challenges ahead. Clients can bring their babies to session and i can help you to feel calmer, happier and more confident as you grow into your new role  I am a very maternal mum and doting grandmother with a passion to support clients with what they are going through.

I have also worked as a learning support at college for teenagers.

My previous career as a Nursery Educator, Nursery Manager alongside  my work with the Evergreen Care Trust, a Private secondary School in Stamford,  'Breathing Space' counselling service in Melton Mowbray, a college Learning Support Assistant, and working with a local primary school, I have gained an invaluable wealth of experience and knowledge in supporting people with a wide range of presentations.

Why choose me?

Together we will build a therapeutic relationship based on mutual trust and respect to encourage you to independently achieve your goals.

I offer an empathic, safe, confidential and non-judgemental space and will work with you to empower yourself, reconnect you to yourself, reduce anxiety and stress and increase confidence and self-esteem amongst other potential outcomes.

Sometimes you just need someone trusting to talk to and in return to feel valued and heard.

Children and Young People - working with young children requires a different and unique as they are continually growing, changing and developing. Through fully self-led sessions, working at their own pace, the child/young person is given the time, space and opportunity they need to express themselves. Whether this be through play, and or conversation, I will help them to grow their sense of competence, improve healthy relationships, and realign negative patterns of behaviour. This will enhance their overall emotional health and well-being. Equipped with a new way of thinking and being they will have the skills and knowledge they need to work tough their own personal issues and restore harmony in their life as they continue to grow and develop.

Parents - This does not come without its problems, arguments and unique difficulties. You may face conflict or struggles as an individual, or with your partner, co-parent or/and child. Perhaps these issues disrupt other areas of your life? With such challenges, together we can find the right tools and strategies for you to overcome your obstacles. I can support you if you are going through difficulties such as first time parenting, adoption, step-families, behavioural issues, parenting styles, jealousy, sibling rivalry, teenage issues and more. There is a  Parents/carers ROOM that is next to the Therapy cabin, for those assisting the child, young person for their session, whereby you can wait and enjoy a cup of tea/coffee. This is in view of where sessions are carried out for me to work confidentially with the client.

Walking and Talking therapy session, in the open air, surrounded by nature is for adults only.

I also offer Drawing and Talking Therapy which is a beautiful creative therapy for 5 - 85 yrs. No artistic flare is needed and the results are incredible.

I offer a free consultation to assess your needs and advise how I can best help you. It would be good to talk and that way you will get a feel for if I am the right person to help you on your unique journey.

You deserve to be happy, so leave the world and its troubles and judgements at the door, come in and 'just be you'.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
