About me
Hi, I'm Charlotte, a BACP registered counsellor. I am an experienced, trauma-informed integrative counsellor working with adults and young people. I will provide you with an environment of calm, understanding and acceptance that makes it safe to explore what is troubling you and to try out different perspectives. I have a special interest in trauma and have worked with clients who have experienced one-off traumatic events, have developmental trauma, have suffered domestic abuse, as well as working with bereavement and loss. I work with a broad range of issues, such as anxiety and panic attacks, depression, relationship difficulties, addiction, PTSD, C-PTSD and sexual abuse.
I offer a compassionate and confidential space in which to support you in finding your own way forward in coping with any challenges or difficulties you may be experiencing. Experiencing trauma can affect everyone differently. You might feel scared, anxious, angry, disappointed, ashamed, all-consuming loneliness, or all of these and more. Your story is unique to you, and we work at your pace, not mine.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am an integrative counsellor, which means that I can draw on many therapeutic models depending on your needs and requirements. These include person-centred, somatic therapy & CBT.
I have previously worked as a counsellor for BACP-registered charity 'Amparo' offering support for anyone affected by losing loved ones to suicide as well as domestic abuse. This work involved working with families, individuals and organisations such as colleges and schools.
I have volunteered for both an Oxfordshire school working with adolescents experiencing difficulties with ADHD & Autism, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma and also a Wiltshire charity working with a broad range of mental health issues for adults and teens.
My experience working with clients in these settings has been diverse and rich, which has given me a thorough understanding of human nature and people's ability to change.
I understand that life can be busy and so I work flexibly with clients. I offer both short and long term sessions.
I am fully insured, have an enhanced DBS check and am a registered member of the BACP number 00970267

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
