About me

Welcome to my profile. My name is Carys Cole.

About Me

I am an experienced and qualified Therapeutic Counsellor with several years of experience working with children, young people, and adults of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures. I have worked in various settings, including counselling organisations, schools, and private practice, offering online and face-to-face therapy. My experience extends to supporting individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, and I also have experience as a Christian counsellor, so I am comfortable discussing spiritual beliefs.

I hold an MSc in Counselling Children and Young People and a BSc in Psychology. I have also completed my BACP Certificate of Proficiency. In addition, I have pursued further CPD training in areas such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapies, mindfulness-based practices, and attachment in practice, allowing me to offer a broad range of therapeutic approaches.

Additionally, I hold a qualification in Video Interactive Guidance, which has enhanced my ability to work with individuals and families in a more dynamic, video-based therapeutic setting.

Currently, I am working within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and practising privately, continuing to support clients across a variety of needs.

What to Expect

As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a variety of therapeutic approaches, believing that no single theory can fully address the diverse challenges clients face. My aim is to provide the flexibility to support you through your unique concerns.

Counselling with me is highly individualised. We will work collaboratively to tailor sessions that feel right for you, creating a safe, confidential, and supportive space to foster personal growth. I will listen to your experiences, walk with you on your journey, and help guide you through change.

Throughout our work together, I will offer unconditional support, reflections, and insights to help you gain a new perspective on your life. My goal is to empower you to discover new ways of thinking, build confidence, and find your own path forward.

I believe the therapeutic relationship is key to success, so I regularly conduct reviews to ensure we are making progress. This allows us to assess what is helpful, address any concerns, and adjust our approach as needed to ensure the best possible outcome for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I am also trained in Video Interactive Guidance (VIG), which is a therapeutic approach that uses video recordings to enhance communication and relationships. It involves filming a client and their interactions, then reviewing the footage together. The focus is on identifying positive moments and strengths in communication, which can be reflected upon and reinforced. This method helps individuals gain insight into their behaviours, improve relationships, and build confidence in their interactions. VIG is often used with families, children, and professionals to foster better understanding and connection through visual feedback.
