About me

Hello, my name is Caroline. I'm a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor working in private practice in the Beeston and Long Eaton area, providing weekly face to face personal therapy. I have experience of working with young people, adults and veterans and believe the relationship between therapist and client is essential, therefore I work relationally to build trust and safety.

I currently work in private practice with adults and veterans, offering therapeutic support for a wide range of presenting issues. If you feel you are struggling with day to day life or you feel you have lost a sense of who you are, please get in touch, help and support is available.

I have been privileged to work with young people for a number of years, supporting them with issues such as identity, anxiety, sexuality, school or home pressures and relationships. If you are a young person or the parent of a young person, please feel free to get in touch should you have any queries.

Clients seek me out for many different reasons, issues vary from depression to relationship break ups, bereavement, Domestic abuse, PTSD, Loneliness and anxiety. Some clients seek support to understand inner conflict or a loss of their sense of self. Whatever the reason for engaging in therapy I will always aim to provide a safe, confidential safe space to explore what brings us into therapy

As an integrative therapist I use a variety of counselling techniques to ensure i meet client needs, I do not believe in a 'one approach fits all' therefore I tailor my approach to your specific needs.

Benefits to Counselling

There are many reasons why people seek counselling. You do not have to have a diagnosis for counselling to have a positive impact on your life. Engaging in therapy can help you to understand yourself better and help you learn how to manage your emotions. I understand that reaching out for help may feel daunting, I too felt the same when I made a commitment to therapy years ago. Please be assured I will guide you through the process ensuring a supportive, calm and unique environment.

There are many positives aspects of engaging in therapy, firstly it provides a safe place away from friends and family where you can express your thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental, confidential setting, with an empathic other. The therapeutic hour will purely be focused on you, giving you time to reflect, explore and learn about yourself.

It is normal for therapy to create waves of emotions, remember you may be choosing to explore past events that may have been traumatic. In the short-term this may cause you to feel psychologically worse before you feel better. There is no ‘quick fix’ but rest assured with commitment and perseverance clients can gradually come to terms with their negative past and find a healthy way forward. There may also be tears, and that’s ok, in fact it is perfectly normal, rest assured I will be with you on your journey, safely supporting you all the way.

I offer an initial assessment where you can come and find out how I work and make your own decision. There is no obligation to continue if it doesn't feel right for you. I offer flexibility regarding session times and currently have availability during weekdays and some evenings.

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
