About me

You may be here because you've experienced difficult,  upsetting or traumatic life events.  Or perhaps you feel down and you don't quite know why.  Some experiences can leave us feeling anxious, depressed,  afraid, guilty, ashamed, sad, confused or low in self-esteem. Whatever you're going through,  I will provide a supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings and develop coping strategies to help you move forward.

I am an an experienced and qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, working with adults and young people aged 18 and up.  I offer face-to-face counselling from my peaceful counselling studio overlooking the South Downs, which is a 15-minute walk from the centre of Winchester and is easily accessible by local buses.  I also offer online counselling sessions

I have experience in helping clients with anxiety,  depression,  stress,  relationship difficulties, loneliness, bereavement and loss,  low self-esteem,  self harm,  redundancy, parenting and many other issues.  One of my areas of expertise is in supporting people who have experienced trauma and abuse.

Alongside my private practice, I work for an organisation offering counselling to individuals who have experienced sexual abuse and trauma. I have also worked for a charity offering free counselling to women who have experienced domestic violence and abuse, as well as a charity offering free counselling to young people aged 16-24.

I use a variety of counselling approaches to ensure you receive the support that best suits your needs and that you feel heard. One approach is Transactional Analysis, a model of therapy that explores how we relate to ourselves, other people and the world around us. It can help you make sense of past experiences, as well as what you're going through now. At the heart of my practice is a person-centred approach, meaning that our sessions are led by you and that I support you in realising your full potential.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
