About me
Are you struggling, feeling stuck or overwhelmed, wanting to make a change and wondering where to start? Whatever you’re going through, know that you’re not alone.
I'm a qualified and experienced counsellor and I offer a peaceful and non-judgemental space where I'll help you explore and make sense of the thoughts and emotions you're experiencing. I'll support you as we carefully and gently explore how it feels to be in your shoes, helping you find the relief and sense of connection that can be gained from sharing your story with someone else.
I use a variety of counselling approaches so that I can provide you with the support that is right for you, whatever you’re going through. Whether you require short-term support to address specific concerns or you're seeking longer-term therapy to delve deeper into underlying issues, we’ll find an approach that suits you as an individual and meets your unique needs.
Amongst the approaches I use is Transactional Analysis - a type of therapy which helps you understand yourself and other people better, whilst also providing practical tools to help you live a more fulfilling, enjoyable and happier life. It can help you understand how your past experiences may be impacting your present-day life so that you can develop practical coping strategies and begin to move forward. I also draw upon other counselling techniques such as mindfulness and cognitive behavioural therapy, which can help you cope when you feel stressed, anxious or depressed.
I see therapy as a collaborative process, so developing a strong therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my work. We'll work together to help you increase your self-awareness so that you have the opportunity for more choice in your life and the possibility for change and personal growth. Above all, I’ll support you in developing your own solutions to your difficulties and help you get a better understanding of who you are and how you would like to live your life.
My counselling studio is a 15-minute walk from the centre of Winchester and has views overlooking the South Downs - it's easily accessible by local bus and there is plenty of nearby parking available. I also offer online sessions.
Taking the decision to have counselling can be one of the most helpful steps we ever take in our life. It's important that you find the right counsellor and so I offer a free 30 minute introductory session - either in person, online or by phone.

Membership Organisations
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and also Hampshire Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (HACP).
As a registered member of the BACP, I adhere to its ethical framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy and professional conduct and procedure.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
I'm here to support you every step of the way, starting with your free 30-minute in-person, online or phone consultation. This gives you an opportunity to tell me a little more about yourself and what you're hoping to get from counselling and to hear a bit about my practice. It's also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have and to think about whether I might be the right counsellor for you.
