Looking for the right counsellor can be difficult and scary and I appreciate that, so If you have any questions after reading my profile then just drop me an email or give me a call and hopefully I will be able to answer any questions you may have.
How can I help?
I primarily trained as a person centred counsellor, but I also draw on my integrative skills so that my counselling practice can be tailored to meet the individual needs of my clients. Person centred therapy is generally non-directive, therefore it allows clients to take more of a lead within the counselling sessions, basically it means that I will not lead you in anyway, and you will ultimately decide on what issues you want to discuss. It can be beneficial for a wide range of issues, such as, anxiety disorders, depression, panic disorders, addictions, low self esteem, bullying and relationship problems.
I can offer you a private space where you can talk freely about any issues you may be having without being judged. Talking with a family member or friend can of course be helpful, but you may also hold back your true feelings as you may not want to upset them or cause them any worry, and that's why talking to me can help because as a counsellor I'm totally impartial and not involved in your life, and being able to speak so freely in my experience is one of the biggest benefits of counselling.
My role as your counsellor will be to listen and help you see things more clearly and possibly from a different view point. I will help you to explore your issues to give you a better understanding of them so that you can deal with your feelings effectively, this in turn will help you to increase your self awareness and promote your emotional and physical well-being.
When and where?
I have a comfortable space within my own home with a downstairs toilet for your convenience. Roadside parking is available directly next to my house. If you would prefer I am also available to travel and visit you within your own home for a small fee added on top to cover my petrol costs. I am available between the hours of 9am to 3pm Monday to Friday. Some evening appointments also available.
Your first session
There will be an initial free of charge, no obligation assessment session that will last 45mins. This will be the perfect opportunity for us to meet and to discuss what your issues are and how we can work together. This can either be done at my house, or within your own home if you wish to have your counselling there. It's vital that you feel comfortable with me and hopefully after this initial meeting you will be able to decide if you wish to have me as your counsellor.

I have also worked for Leicestershire Police for the past 4yrs as a PSV providing support for Vulnerable adults and victims of low level crime identified on our beat.
As a counsellor my primary experience is within bereavement as I have worked as a grief counsellor for St Barnabas Hospice based at Grantham for the past 4yrs providing pre and post bereavement counselling. And through St Barnabas I have also worked with carers of patients and patients themselves who are either terminally ill or suffering from a life limiting illness. As a grief counsellor I have worked with adults who presented with a wide range of issues because the loss of someone quite often brings unresolved issues to the surface. Some of these issues have included, historical abuse, relationship problems, guilt and anger. And through my private practice I have also worked with clients struggling with severe anxiety.
